Emily Reviews Holiday Gift Guide
In 1977, Xavier Roberts began working with needle molding, a form of sculpting and quilting. In 1978, he started marketing his little people that could be adopted. It was a hit; parents were willing to pay the $40 adoption fee. By 1982, long term licensing agreements had been met and Xavier started calling his little people, Cabbage Patch Kids. In 1990, the handmade originals were popular with collectors and had adoptions fees of $190.00 and up. 65 million Cabbage Patch Kids had been adopted to date.

Cabbage Patch Kids are one of those special toys that just get better with time. I can remember when I was a young child and Cabbage Patch Kids were first becoming the “in-toy!” I wanted one so bad but, they just weren’t in my parent’s budget. A few years later, I got my first Cabbage Patch Kid. I felt like the luckiest kid in the world! Over the years, they stood out as one of my favorite childhood toys. To this day, I can remember the baby powder smell they have.

We recently adopted two Cabbage Patch Kids from the The ABC Play with Me! line. These Cabbage Patch Kids sing the alphabet, play a kazoo (included), sips from an Apple & Eve juice box (included) and chuckle along with your child.

As soon as these dolls were delivered, I ripped open the package; I couldn’t want to get my hands on them and smell that baby powder smell. I instantly went back to that special moment I had almost 30 years ago. Cabbage Patch Kids are just as adorable and fragrant as I remember.

My girls had the same reaction I had; they love their new friends. Even though the Cabbage Patch Kids came with names, my girls are still working on nicknames for them.

I think Cabbage Patch Kids are going to be a part of our family for a very long time!

Cabbage Patch Kids will make for very special Christmas gifts for your little one.

You can adopt your new Cabbage Patch Kid on their website, Facebook, and Twitter pages.
