Hand Painted Oil Painting

Hand Painted Oil Painting

I love photos. I almost always have my digital camera in my purse. In fact, on the rare occasion that I haven’t had my camera on me, I’ve had people say things like “you REALLY don’t have your camera?!”. I prefer to have it on me just in case something photo worthy happens. I have tons of photos of Ryan and I from the last 4.5 years. I can only imagine that when I have kids, my photo taking addiction will get even worse. I think it’s exciting to know that my kids will grow up in the digital photography age, where they will have tons of photos of their childhood. My mom was a photo addict when I was little, so I have lots of photos from my childhood. I know a lot of people my age and older who have a shoebox full of photos (or less!) from their entire childhood which seems a bit sad to me.

I print off many of my photos into 4 by 6 prints, and have tried blowing some up before, but seems how my camera is just a basic point and shoot, my photos aren’t high enough quality to be blown up in sizes more than 8 by 10 or so. I recently got to check out My Davinci. My davinci offers tons of options for editing your photos into pieces of art. If you’re looking to blow your photo up into a large canvas, they have you covered. If you have a great photo of your newborn daughter, with uncle jim sneezing in the background, you can use their object remover. Other services offered include collages, color accent, and combine photos. Then there are ways to truly turn your photo into a work of art, such as their hand painted water color from photo, hand painted oil painting from photo and hand drawn pencil sketch from photo. You’ll quickly see from their online galleries that the art pieces that are made from photos are truly pieces of art.

I was able to have a photo turned into a hand drawn pencil sketch. Part of what is great about the hand drawn and hand painted pieces at my davinci, is they don’t require the photo to be “blown up” which means the photos don’t need to be incredibly high quality. I’ve tried having photos from my camera turned into 8 by 10 or 11 by 14 prints or canvases before, and been told that they just aren’t high enough quality to be able to work with. Yet, at my davinci they were able to use my photo to draw me a beautiful hand dawn pencil sketch. Below you can see the original photo as well as the hand drawn sketch. Forgive my photography of the sketch, the glass causes glares so I had to take the photo on an angle to avoid having the glare be in the middle of the sketch.

The sketch is 11 by 14 and is able to be hung vertically or horizontally. My photo was taken in a really crooked angle so I wasn’t sure if I would want to hang it horizontally or vertically so I like having the freedom to hang it either way. When looking at the sketch straight on, it doesn’t have any glare from the lead, which really surprised me. I figured that a sketch drawn completely by pencil would have a heavy shine from the lead but it doesn’t unless you look at it on a sharp angle. While the sketch very clearly is taken from my photo, and very clearly Ryan and I, it’s not 100% identical to the photo which I enjoy because it shows that the sketch truly is hand drawn. However, if I had been unhappy with a certain detail of the sketch, I could have voiced my concerns before the product was shipped to me, because customers are sent a proof by email. I was able to look at the sketch and because I was pleased with it, I approved it. However, I did have the opportunity to ask for changes at that time.

I really like my sketch and have gotten compliments on it from people who have stopped over and saw it hanging on the wall. I would love to also check out their hand painted oil paintings from photo or water color paintings in the future, they would certainly make wonderful keepsakes for wedding or baby photos.
