The Tea Spot is a wonderful online store that specializes in loose leaf teas. Founder Maria Uspenski is a cancer survivor. During Maria’s recovery she developed an appreciation for loose leaf teas and all the health benefits that they provided. Maria wanted to make it easier for people to enjoy loose leaf teas and teach about their benefits. She opened The Tea Spot where she offers a variety of Fair-Trade Certified estate teas, handcrafted signature blends and modern Steepware. Maria wants people to know that fresh tea is full of flavors, numerous health benefits, and is eco-friendly.
For my review, I was sent the Organic Skinny Tea collection and a Tuffy Tea Steeper. Organic Skinny Teas are a set of three green teas including Jasmine Petals, Clouds and Mist, and Sencha. Green teas can boost your metabolism, increase alertness, raise endurance levels, reduce cholesterol, and improve immune systems. Green teas are also known to serve anti-oxidant properties and have been connected with the prevention of cancer. I am fairly new to loose leaf teas; I too was attracted to them because of their health benefits. My only problem was the fact that I really don’t like the way green tea tastes. Katie at The Tea Spot explained to me that green tea can take on a bitter taste if you don’t brew it properly. She went on and taught me the right way to brew green tea. Green teas are very delicate, you need to use water that is 175 degrees and steep for only 2-3 minutes and then enjoy.
The Tuffy Steeper is a silicone tea infuser. It was designed to be durable, portable, and reusable. The Tuffy Steeper fits most tea glasses and teapots. For your convenience it has a lid that also serves as a saucer for the brewing basket after your tea has steeped. I like the Tuffy Steeper it has been a helpful tool as I learn more about teas.
The Tea Spot is dedicated to the environment and neighbors. They donate 10% of every sale to cancer wellness and community programs.
Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.
