As a kid, one of my favorite types of gifts was video games. We didn’t have many games and back then it seemed like there were teenage games and then games aimed at kids, but most of the kid games were more aimed at boys than girls. I also really liked computer games and remember being jealous of a few of the “girl” computer games that my friends had at the time. Thankfully, times have changed and there are way more video games that are aimed at girls now.

If you’re looking for video games for girls, Disney has two options that I want to share with you today. The first is Brave: The video game. This game is available for the Wii, Xbox 360, PS3, Nintendo DS, PC or Mac. Kids who enjoyed the movie will love being able to extend that fun into a game. In the game, kids play as Merida and are able to challenge destiny and change their fate. You’ll run, jump and battle through Scotland while going up against Enemies and trying to end a magical curse. The game is rated E10+.

The other game is great for a slightly younger crowd. Disney Princess: My Fairytale Adventure is rated E and is available for Wii, 3DS, PC and Mac. Most young girls these days love princesses and the Disney princesses seem to be at the top of the princess favorites list. In this game, you’re the fairy godmother’s apprentice and you get to meet 5 different Disney princesses on your journey. You earn gems as you go along and they can be redeemed for special items. Girls like my sister will love customizing their characters castle, outfit and hair.
