My nephew Drew turned 2 in August and like most kids his age he is full of energy at all times unless he’s a sleeping or within 10 minutes of falling asleep. My mom has a full sized trampoline in her back yard for my little sister who is 9. This summer, Drew fell in love with the trampoline and when I babysat him at my moms house we spent a LOT of time on the trampoline (which he refers to as “the jumpy”).  If I babysat him for the typical 8 hours, we’d end up on the trampoline at least 3 or 4 different times.

Now that it’s cold outside and only growing colder, it’s harder to find time to stay outside long term and get all of that two year old energy out. We were recently sent a JumpSport Ibounce for review. The JumpSport Ibounce is an indoor trampoline aimed at children ages 2-5. It has a weight limit of 75lbs so many children over age 5 will still be under the weight limit as well.

The assembly is a little time consuming but not particularly difficult. It’s easier to assemble if you have two people so that you can help line everything up. Of course, Drew was excited to test out the trampoline as soon as he realized what it was. He grabbed onto the handles that for him are about armpit level when he’s standing still on the trampoline and went to work jumping like crazy. After he was tired out he got off and my 9 year old sister took a turn. She’s petite for her age so while she’s way over the 5 year old recommended age she’s still well under the weight limit and she really enjoyed the trampoline as well. Instead of using springs like a traditional trampoline, a bungee cord is used to hold the net to the frame. Both kids didn’t seem to notice the difference because the trampoline was still really “bouncy”. I like not having to worry about hands or feet getting pinched between the strings if the cover slips off.

Drew has continued to jump on the trampoline at least daily. It comes with a tablet holder that can be added to the handlebars. It also comes with a Rompy Roo video which can be played in the tablet or on a TV instead.  Drew had really enjoyed the trampoline even without the DVD but one day we set up the movie for him but he didn’t really pay any attention to it. However, Drew doesn’t have much of an interest in TV or movies either one yet so I don’t feel it was the movie that was the problem but instead just Drew’ disinterest in movies.

The only improvement that we would like to see made would be to have the feet made out of different material or else covered with something. The reason for this is because the trampoline does slide across the floor somewhat while in use and we moved the trampoline from the living room where there are hard wood floors to the playroom in the basement which has a cement floor to avoid scratching the hard wood. I had never seen a triangular trampoline before but it seems to work out really well. It’s large enough that the kids can jump on it without it feeling too small or awkward but it’s not so bulky that it’s a burden in a playroom or living room. For Drew it’s proved to be a nice source of entertainment but also a great way for him to spend his energy and get some wiggles out. He’ll be able to more than double his weight before he weighs too much for it and by then his baby sister who is due in March will be able to keep using it. This tramopline would make a great holiday gift for the active toddler or young child in your life.
