As many of you might know by now, I have a beautiful baby daughter. Like any parent, I want the best for her to promote her development. Now that she is a bit older, she is about to achieve another important milestone: she is able to stand and is trying to take little steps. To help her learn to walk, having the right shoes is very important.
Litiquette Boutique is a Canadian shoe company (they ship worldwide though!) They have a great variety of soft soled shoes for babies and toddlers for both boys and girls. Shoes come in sizes 0-6 months old all the way to 2-3 years old.
For my daughter, I received the Lovely Ladybug in Pink. I think the ladybugs are super cute with their big eyes and their heart shaped dots. The colors are nice and bright and fit with her very girly wardrobe of mostly pink and purple outfits.
Take a look at some of their other colorful designs:
Not only are they cute but all their shoes are made of real leather which is flexible and breathable. The soles are in suede so they are not slippery. This is especially important when little ones are learning to keep their balance as well as when they are older and running around on slippery floors such as hardwood or tile floors. My daughter hasn’t slipped once with them even though she’s not all that steady on her feet yet.
One of the most important features of baby/toddler shoes is that the sole is flexible. It’s important to have something that is comfortable and that will protect their feet without hindering their movements. Typically, you should be able to ‘test’ shoes by rolling them into a ball in the palm of your hand. Because Litiquette Boutique’s shoes are made of leather and suede, they easily pass this test!
The shape of the shoe is also important: the toe box should be wide enough to allow toes to wiggle. When the toe box is too small, it can cause pain and other more severe problems such as bunions or deformities. Fortunately, Litiquette Boutique’s shoes are designed to allow plenty of room for babies’ and toddlers’ toes.
In terms of the durability of these shoes, my daughter has been wearing them almost every day for over a month now. The shoes have soften even more but there is no sign of damage either on the upper part with the design or the sole. I find that the upper part can get a little dirty when my daughter crawls with them but I can wipe them clean easily.
So far the only thing I would change about these shoes is that the elastic band that runs along the upper part is a little tight and can leave a mark on my daughter’s skin. It’s not painful and isn’t so bad that she can’t wear them though. Admittedly, even my own socks and shoes can leave red marks on my skin so I’m not too worried about it.
Another great reason to get these shoes is their affordability. I’ve seen other soft soled leather shoes sell for 3 times the cost of a pair of shoes from Litiquette Boutique. Given that a baby or toddler will outgrow their shoes in 6 to 12 months, I’d rather spend my money wisely and find the best deal possible!
Overall, I am very pleased with these shoes. I like their quality and durability so far. Also, they are the best kind of shoes for my daughter’s developing feet. I also like that they come in dozens of different styles and don’t cost an arm and a leg!
