Poptropica is an online game that is really kid friendly (no violence or other bad stuff) that was created by Jeff Kinney, the author behind the whimpy kid series that is so popular with kids these days. I know several kids who just adore the whimpy kid book series so I was excited to check out this game just based on that fact alone.
From the online game, they’ve now created Poptropica Adventures which is a ds game that was just released this month that is similar to the online version but can be played in the car or while laying in bed thanks to the Ds.
The overall goal of Poptropica is to travel to go on adventures to three different islands (that online poptropica players will recognize from the online version) in search of awesome items to bring back to the empty museum to make it cool again. Along the way you’ll solve crime, race against others and collect potions among other things. There are mini-games along the way to add in another layer of fun. My 9 year old sister’s favorite part of any game is choosing her characters hair, clothing, shoes, etc. Poptropica lets you customize your character with tons of unique hairstyles and clothing so I know she’d love this feature of the game.
If your children are young, you’ll feel comfortable letting them play Poptropica because it’s rated E for everyone and it’s hard for me to imagine what any parent would find to be inappropriate about Poptropica – I think it’s great even for little ones.

I think my son will enjoy these games when he’s a bit older. It’s cool that they have turned it into a DS Game so it can be taken on the go!
how cute! We’re seriously thinking about getting a DS for my young kid and I would probably get this for him. Seems easy enough for him to manage. Thank you!
