As all cat owners know, dealing with litter boxes can be pretty unpleasant. Having to either put up with the yucky smells and sights, or else regularly scoop the automatic litter box, that lets your cat go about his business, and then the liquid waste is absorbed by the crystals, and the rake activates to scoop up any solid waste, and when the rake gets to the end of the litter box, it places the solid waste into a storage box that is covered, so it doesn’t have to be seen or smelled. My mom has several cats and is always looking for a more innovative way to deal with her cat litter boxes, so I thought I’d let her try this out. The litter used in the scoopfree box is a blueish color, so I wasn’t sure if her cats would immediately take to the litter. Scoopfree suggests sitting the new litter box next to your old one, and allowing your old litter box to get used, and fill up. Cats tend to be cleanly animals and once the box gets too full for their tastes, they will search for a better option and start using the new litter box. You can also mix the scoopfree litter and your traditional litter half and half at first, and then start using 3/4 of the scoopfree litter with 1/4 traditional, and then eventually cut out the old litter all together. All of my moms cats took to the new  litter box just fine, even without having to mix the litter. She found that the scoopfree box worked pretty well most of the time, but that her cats sometimes have digestive issues that cause diarrhea, and she found that the litter doesn’t seem to clump well in that situation, and that the rake seems to just smear the waste, causing a big mess. However, in every other situation it worked great. Although the litter box has to be plugged in, the motor is pretty quiet. For one cat, the tray only needs to be changed out every couple of weeks, but with 4 cats it suggests every 7 days. Trays retail for 44.00  for 3, or 89.00 for 6.so it is more pricey to keep up with this litter box than it is to buy litter in most cases, but it’s much more convenient.

Until Dec 31st, when you buy a scoopfree litter box, you get a free bolt laser toy. The bolt toy is basically a laser inside of a rotating ball. My cat loves to play with a laser but she never gets tired of playing, so we always get tired of running the laser before she gets tired of playing with it. This is a great solution for cats who never get tired of playing with lasers.

Buy it: You can purchase a scoop free litter box online at scoopfree.com. If you buy the scoop free box and want the free laser toy, go here to purchase.

Win it: Come back at midnight to enter the santas blowout giveaway, for your chance to win a scoopfree litter box and laser toy!

My daughters and myself all have cats, so this litter box would be a help. Since we also have dogs, the storage feature is a plus to prevent ‘kitty crunchy’ treats. Our daughter’s cat is a big play cat and would love the laser roy.
