Have you heard of Pocoyo? I hadn’t until a couple of months ago. Pocoyo is a preschool show with a main character named Pocoyo, who is a 4 year old boy who is very adventurous and curious. The show is very cute and seems to be growing in popularity with preschoolers. I have a 4 year old nephew who is a big fan of pocoyo so I knew he would love the chance to help me review a couple of bandai‘s pocoyo toys.

The first toy we received for review was the pocoyo bump n go. This toy is pocoyo inside of a red racecar. When you push pocoyos head down the car moves forward, while playing music. If the car hits furniture or something similar, it backs up and makes a uturn so it can continue on it’s way. I had never seen a childrens toy that can back up and turn around if it runs into something, so I was surrised at that and Dylan thought it was really funny. He enjoys intentionally running pocoyo into walls so that he backs up and turns around.  Also, if the music gets a bit old you can turn the music to silent  by using the switch underneath the car, but with this button in the silent position the car itself will still go, so it can be played with still just without the music. However, in comparison to other preschool toys the music isn’t too loud or annoying. The car requires 3 AA batteries.

The other toy we were sent to review was the pocoyo squeeze and play. This is a doll figure of pocoyo. If your child favors one of the other characters on pocoyo, such as elly or pato, you can find squeeze and play toys of those characters as well. My nephew liked this doll but I think it would be better for the younger pocoyo fans, which makes sense as the recomended ages are 18months-3years. Some of the squeeze and play toys feature pocoyo songs, but the pocoyo doll giggles and has two trumpet sounds instead. The doll is very cute and would be great for pocoyo lovers who enjoy dolls.

Overall Dylan really enjoyed the pocoyo toys, be sure to keep them in mind for your Pocoyo fans!

Disclaimer – I received two pocoyo toys from bandai for the purposes of this review. No other form of compensation was offered or accepted. All opinions are my own.

I haven’t watched TV for little ones in quite a few years. I have heard of Pocoyo, but never watched it.
