Educational toys planet is a great website with all kinds of educational toys for kids of all ages. It’s really easy to find age appropriate toys with a simple click. This makes a gift choosing decision much easier. I’ve found that a lot of websites will group together various ages like 2-5, when we all know that 2 year olds are stuck under the ‘under 3’ ban and can’t play with the same toys as 5 year olds. Plus, the range of fine motor skills and other abilities changes so much in those few years that it’s really silly to group them together even though they are only a couple years apart. At educational toys planet every age has it’s own section of toys to choose from. I was lucky enough to receive a toy from educational toys planet for my niece to try out. I received project runway fashion design light box set. In my high school art classes we had a huge light table that we used a couple of times, that was fun even as a teenager to play with tracing various things onto our own paper. I wasn’t aware that mini light tables like this existed, but it’s a really neat tool for tweens and teens who are interested in drawing but could use some help with the detailed stuff. The light table comes with laminate sheets that have various dresses, tops, jeans, purses, etc printed on them. Also included are sheets of paper with bodies, feet and blank purses on them. So the kid chooses a dress she wants to put on the person, and she lays the laminate sheet with the chosen dress, and lays it on the light table. Then, on top of the laminate sheet she lays the piece of paper with a body on it. When the light box light is turned on, the dress outline shines through the paper so that it can be copied. Once the dress is drawn she can choose to add accessories or additional clothing to create a design that is all her own. Of course, she can also decorate the dress with a pattern or coloring of her choice as well. The combinations of outfits and designs are really endless and could keep a fashion loving girl interested for a long time. The mini light table is perfect size for a tween or teens lap, so this would be a great tool for a plane or car trip. The light table has a short drawer that can hold the colored pencils that come with the set. They are only a few inches long so I would suggest buying an additional colored pencil set eventually. The only other downside is the light table requires 3 c batteries that aren’t included in the set. I don’t think I own anything else that takes c batteries so I wouldn’t have any laying around. However, I think this toy is really neat and unique and could get a lot of use so overall it is certainly worth going out and finding some.
