I was generously provided with a Bib’Expresso to review. The bib expresso is a bottle warmer, baby food warmer and bottle sterilizer all in one product. As you can see, the machine is approximately as big as a full sized coffee maker, and fits great on my counter under my cupboards. When I first unpacked the bib’expresso I found the metal plate that is sitting in the bottom of the machine, up inside of the heating unit. It took a few minutes to realize that the metal plate belonged underneath the water spout, but everything else was completely self explanatory. Of course, you should read the instruction book for safety anyway. To heat up water for a formula bottle in just 30 seconds, you simply fill the baby bottle with regular tap water. Then you open the lid and pour the water into the top of the machine and shut the lid. On the front of the machine there is a button with a teardrop or water droplet shape, which you press. Then within 30 seconds the machine will beep 3 times. While waiting on the machine you can fill the bottle with the appropriate amount of formula powder or liquid and set the bottle (lid off of course) on the machine. Once the machine beeps 3 times signaling that the water is ready simply push down the orange lever down, which allows the water to flow into the bottle. Once it’s full you simply shake the bottle until the formula is well mixed and the bottle is ready.

Alternately, if you’re looking to make a bottle with pumped breast milk, or are looking to heat up a container of baby food, there is a slightly different process. For these processes, you can remove the heating unit from the lower portion, or you don’t have to. However, if exclusively breastfeeding or if you only use the machine for heating baby food jars, it saves a lot of space. As you can see in the photos, the electricity cord is easily removed from the back of the unit and can be replaced easily if you choose to put the heating unit back on later. Heating breast milk bottles or baby food takes longer than the formula bottles, so you’ll want to prepare a few minutes ahead of time. Open the top lid and fill with water until you reach the ‘max line’ which you can see from the frontside of the machine through the clear “window”. Once the water level is reached, you set the breast milk bottle or baby food jar into the water and hit the button that says 1 or 2. The “1” button is useful for containers that are room temperature, and the “2” button is for containers that are at fridge temperature. Again you wait until the machine beeps 3 times. Then you remove the container with a cloth (to avoid burns). This method doesn’t guarantee an even heat distribution, and the temperature level varies based on the size of the container, as well as the temperature of the container prior to being heated, so you should always check the temperature of the product before giving it to your child.

Lastly, the bib’expresso can be used to sterilize bottles. The back compartment can be used to store bottles, and is also a sterilizer. To sterilize bottles, fill the compartment to a central level, and add bottles that have been washed with soap and water. place the bottle compartment into your microwave and heat for 4-6minutes (depending on microwave wattage). Once the time has finished, leave the sterilizer in the microwave for at least 2 minutes to allow it to cool down. Then empty the compartment and dry completely before reattaching it to your bib’expresso.
