On the second day of our Ohio trip we woke up, ate breakfast and headed out to the imagination station. We got to check the place out before it opened to the general public, so there weren’t any kids present but I’m sure during the day it’s a busy place. The imagination station is a “hands on” science center for kids, making it the perfect place to spend the day as a family. Most of the activities at imagination station are science based, but they are all things that appeal to kids in a playful, fun way. For example, there are tons of stations with water based play (what kid doesn’t love playing in water?), lots of building and design activities, such as building bridges with massive amounts of k’nex, a station where you can make your own self-propelled boat and more. There is an entire area designated for “little kids” from toddlers up through kindergarten age or so. This area includes slides, a pretend house, a pretend grocery store and more. Other parts of the imagination station are great for young teenagers, particularly if they are into building, architecture, design, etc. Of course, there’s plenty for the in between crowd as well. There are even portions of the imagination station that adults can try out. Ryan was brave enough to try out the high wire cycling which is a bicycle that you can ride across a high wire that hangs above an open area between the first and second floors. I prefer to keep my feet planted firmly on the ground ;). We also got to check out the mind zone which is all about optical illusions, perceptions, etc. They even have a distorted gravity room which is hard to explain in words, but everything appears slanted one way, while gravity pulls you the other. The pic to the right should give you a good idea of how the room just seems crazy and like it lacks gravity. If you want to see any of the photos better you can click on them to view them in full size.
Now through September 18th there is a bodies revealed exhibit at the imagination station which we also got to see. That post coming soon!
