Christmas will be here before we know it. I know people who set up their decorations and start playing Christmas music the day after thanksgiving. I’m not quite that eager to get going, mainly because of my limited space. My apartment is 900 square feet and I share it with two other adults, so we don’t have a ton of space to put decorations. Last year we got a full sized real Christmas tree, but I didn’t like how cramped our living room felt. So I thought that a miniature Christmas tree plant from proplants would be a great solution. They are actually plants, not pine trees but they look like Christmas trees and can hold up lightweight ornaments. I was sent the Gingerbread Workshop mini christmas tree for review. It comes with a small string of lights and 12 ornaments that are a combination of gingerbread men/women and candy canes. There are other mini Christmas trees at proplants including their Santa’s workshop tree that has a variety of tiny ornaments, and the snowman festival tree which has snowmen ornaments, and the snowflakes and angels tree which of course, has snowflake and angel ornaments. The plant is easy to care for, as you simply water it regularly enough to keep the soil moist and keep it in a place where the temperature is fairly consistent. Meaning, you wouldn’t want to transfer it from a really warm house out into the cold, but if you kept it in a warm place or a cool place it would be fine, it just doesn’t handle the transition very well.

At around 18-22 inches tall, it makes a perfect Christmas tree for our small apartment and would be cute for a child’s room, table decoration, dorm room or for someone in a nursing home. The plant costs 34.99 and if well cared for can last through multiple Christmases making it much more affordable than even a cheap tree. Of course, when out of season you can take off the lights and ornaments and it makes for a nice decorative plant. The plant I received has a few “thin” areas that i’m hoping will fill out better once it grows in the coming weeks. However, I think it has a very cute “charlie brown” type look to it as it is right now. I hope to keep this plant alive for the next few Christmases at least, until we can get a larger apartment or a house. Then I’ll probably use it to decorate our bedroom during the holidays.
