Building toys make great gifts becuase they are open ended toys that will get a lot of use. However, so many building toys seem to be aimed only at boys, when they are great gifts for girls as well, and can help young kids develop fine motor skills while playing. Tooberz and Zots are building toys that don’t seem nearly as “boys only” as other brands and are suitable for kids ages 3 and up. In fact, they even have a set that is aimed at girls and includes pink and purple pieces. They are safe for 3 year olds, but my 8 year old sister enjoyed these as well, meaning these could last your kids 5 years or more.
These could make a nice gift idea for a family with several children of different ages and both genders as they are suitable for such a wide age range. In fact, I even enjoyed seeing what I could come up with using tooberz and zots. The long “skinnies” (the skinny yellow pieces pictured) and “tooberz” (the thick reddish piece that’s around my arm in the photo) remind me of pipecleaners but they are much bigger. The tooberz in particular are extremely bendable and will take any form that you set them in. The skinnies bend a little bit, but don’t stay in place as well but they fit inside of the zots to help build masterpieces. Seems how the pieces aren’t block shaped like most building toys, these allow for unique forms to be made regaurdless of the childs skill level. Overall they are a neat, unique toy that can grow with your child. At just under 25.00 I think these are a great gift idea for the kid on your list.
