Morphology is a new game where players are challenged to stretch their imaginations and develop some strong building skills. Teammates of 4 or more players, ages 13 and up are asked to build and identify words on cards while overcoming different challenges, without communicating and only using the 50 building objects provided.

To begin, the starting team chooses a Morphologist who chooses a card without revealing it to their teammates. A timer is started when the team Morphologist looks at the word on the card they have drawn. The Morphologist must then use the allowed items from the box to build their word while teammates try to guess the word being built, before time runs out. If guessed correctly, the team hops from their lily pad to the next one. If not guessed correctly, the team remains on their current lily pad. There are three types of lily pads-play, roll, and pick 3; this also adds another challenge to the game deciding what building pieces or skills are allowed to be used. As with all games, there are some rules-speak, interact, or act out the word. The first team that reaches the final lily pad wins. Morphology cards come in easy and hard so you can choose a level based on your skills.

This is a very challenging game. I think once you figured out all the rules, it would be a very fun group game. I like that it encourages you to use your imagination and not your words. I see that they have a Morphology Junior game coming soon, perhaps my family should start with that one.

You can find the Morphology Game on their website, Facebook, and twitter page.
