The Klampie Mystery has turned into one of my all time favorite children’s books. I believe part of it is because my 3 year old loves it so much. He can relate to some of the story now and then when he gets a little bit older there will be other elements of the book he loves. I love it when books are appropriate for a larger age range.
The Klampie Mystery is about a little girl who is taking a trip to Australia. she receives a stuffed koala bear as a gift and it turns into one of her favorite belongings. A mystery ensues involving Klampie the stuffed koala. But wait…was Klampie really a stuffed toy or a real koala bear? You will have the best time finding out when you read this book with your little one!
The Klampie Mystery is a great hard cover book written and illustrated by Luis Rodriguez. The pictures are great and Luis definitely knows how to get the attention of his audience. It took us 2 nights to read all the way through it as it has a lot of information and about 32 pages, but Little C was just as excited to get back into this mysterious book the 2nd night as he was the first.
For older children, there are a lot of learning opportunities involved with the book. You can talk about where Australia is and the book even goes into detail as to how long the flight is from California and uses some Australian phrases. It is definitely a fun learning tool for older children.
As for my little guy, he loved the fact that it talked about an airplane trip, which he has been on. He loved the fact that Samantha, the character in the book, loved Klampie just as much as he loves his stuffed animals. He even found some of the Australian lingo interesting. He was very interested and would stop me and ask questions. Now Little C loves books and would let me read to him all day, however, it rarely happens when he stops me to ask a question. I loved how curious he was about this book.
