In high school, I took a math class with a really nice math teacher. He was incredibly patient and always willing to explain the lesson to kids multiple times to make sure that they understood the basic concepts. He understood the subject he taught really well and always had alternative ways to explain things to those who struggled to understand. The only downside about having him as a teacher was his strong smelling breath. Had he been another student or friend, I would have offered him some gum or a mint. Seems how we weren’t suppose to have gum to begin with, this wasn’t an option – but even if it were, I would assume most teachers wouldn’t accept gum from a student. It was rather unfortunate.

Dentyne has recently come out with new split2fit packs that include 16 pieces of gum in total, but break off into two packs of 8 so that they can easily slide into your pants pocket, purse, backpack, etc. It’s a nice way to only spend money on one pack of gum while being able to have packs of gum in two places at once, such as in your purse and in the car. That way, you are always ready to help a friend (or yourself!) with an emergency breath freshening option.

Some interesting statistics found about bad breath:

58% of women ages 18-34 said they have lost interest in someone they were attracted to because of bad breath.

86% said they couldn’t disregard bad breath on a first date.

85% said it would be harder for them to tell someone that they had bad breath, then it would be to tell them their zipper was down.

I’ll admit that I typically shy away from hard nugget types of gum because in the past the options I’ve tried have been so strong that they almost burn my mouth and nose. The Dentyne Ice in mint frost is a great “in between” for people like me who want their breath to smell fresh without having that burning sensation that over-the-top minty gum sometimes gives.

I have a co-worker right now with pretty bad breath. I can even smell it from across the elevator sometimes. He doesn’t smoke or anything at least otherwise it’d probably be worse.

I once managed to forget my toothbrush while packing for a weekend trip! I did not have the means necessary to run to a store to replace mine. Thankfully, I had a pack of mints on hand to save everyone around me from my breath.

For some reason my former boss and I thought garlic laden bagels and coffee before round table concferences/lunch would be a good idea. Not such a safe breath move, I have to say.

I have a co-worker that no body likes to talk to because his breath is nasty. If I won, I would give him some of this gum, and hopefully he will take the hint.

In my childhood I found it really difficult talking with a class mate of mine. She used to eat lot of garlic, and I found it really difficult to talk to her.

I keep my mints and gum stashed every where, in the car, my drawer at work and gym bag. you never know when you have to have an impromptu meeting

  • Certain times when I’m around a friend or family member who ate something with garlic, I politely step away verses telling them their breath stinks. This is why I always carry altoids.

  • My story is garlic-related too. I had a coworker who ate a piece of garlic with lunch every day… some new-age specialist told her it would help with “impure blood.” We worked retail and she dealt directly with customers on a daily basis. I could see customers that she talked to actually lean away. Coworkers would offer her gum or mints. A few even left them anonymously in her locker, but she apparently didn’t get the hint. She was eventually let go…. I suspect it had a lot to do with her “medicine.”

I work 12 hour shifts and I have a meal. The majority of the time I don’t have time to brush. This would be great
