It’s been a particularly hot summer here in Michigan and we’ve spent more time than usual in the pool to keep cooled off. With so many tree’s in our area, it’s nearly impossible to keep debris from the trees out of the pool. We of course have a net but we decided to look for a pool cover so that we can cut down on how much time we have to spend using the net on the pool. Swimtown Pools offers a variety of accessories for your pool including the pools themselves, pool chemicals, pumps, liners and of course, covers! We were sent a solar cover for review.
The pool covers are available in round, oval or rectangular shapes and in a variety of different sizes. Our pool is 15′ across and is round. We were sent the 15′ round solar pool cover which is 29.99 and comes with free shipping. Considering the large size of the cover and its awkward shape for a package, I was surprised that shipping was free and the cover was sold at such a low price. The cover includes a 3 year warrenty so it’s nice to know that you won’t have to replace it for at least 3 years.
It’s a solar cover so it’s designed to help heat the water of your pool up to 15 degrees higher and it works very well. In fact, it works so well that we’ve had to take it off of our pool this summer because with temperatures above 100 degrees, the water would naturally be nice and warm already and the solar cover would make the water too warm for swimming. Though this has been an oddly warm summer for us and in a more normal summer the increased water temperature would be much appreciated.
While the cover is large and a takes a bit of maneuvering, I am able to get the cover on our pool by myself where as other covers that we have had require at least two people. It’s nice to be able to cover the pool whenever we want without having to wait around for other people to get home or find the time to help out.

I just spent a week in Indiana, and my aunt has an above ground pool as well. She was complaining about how debris gets in and how she always has to clean it out. I’ll definitely have to suggest this to her!
I think it’s awesome that it always heats the pool!
