School has already started for some and others are just days away from walking through the doors! The first day jitters can make anyone a little anxious whether it be a child or a parent. I started Little C at a private 3 year old preschool last year and was extremely anxious about leaving him. I had stayed at home with him or had family watch him the years before. I honestly don’t know who was more worried about school, me or Little C. I started reading him books about a month before school started last year and they seemed to really help. He only went 3 days a week for 3 hours a day, but it was still a very big step for both of us.
His 4 year preschool year is about to start and although I’m not quite as anxious this year as he is going to the same school, Little C has shown a few more signs of being a tad bit scared. He remembers his teacher from last year and the friends that were in his class, but he knows that he will have a new teacher and some new friends. I can tell that he is excited and a little apprehensive about school starting. A big thanks to Hallmark, they have a special book with a cool interactive dog named Nugget to cure all of those back to school fears this year. We have had Nugget for a few weeks now and Little C loves to read his book, but he also loves to just cuddle with Nugget.
In Nugget’s book, Nugget’s First Day of School, Nugget is going to doggy school for the very first time. He is in a strange, new place with a bunch of other dogs and he is scared and sad. He wants to just sit and wait on his family to pick him up, but the other dogs get him to play with them and have fun. Nugget’s day flies by and before he knows it his family is back to pick him up. Nugget experienced things at his first day of school that your little one will experience as well. Nugget’s First Day of School is sure to get your little one excited about school!

I have 2 and I am also a Nanny so I could realy use new books
It is important for children to have something they can relate to, especially in stressful situations. This is a nice way to help a child know what to expect making the transition that much easier.
