I’ve mentioned before that my kid sister loves polly pocket and has since she was about 3 years old. These are her ‘go to’ toys and she has had hours upon hours of play out of her different polly sets. We were recently sent the Polly Pocket Playtime Pet Shop Playset for review and we love it.
Most children I know are drawn to animals – I’ve found this to be true for almost all children but especially girls. I think that the combination of a pet shop set and polly pocket is a wonderful combination that will attract the interest of a LOT of young girls.
I was impressed with this set because instead of including one or two animals and forcing you to buy more if yo want more, the set comes with 8 pets as well as a polly. I also enjoyed the fun features such as a slide, swing and elevator that I knew would excite my little sister. When I first let her play with it she mentioned that “The slide is awesome, I don’t have any slides in my other sets!” I was surprised when I noticed that she could drop pets from near the top of the slide down into a shoot below. I hadn’t noticed that there was a flap that can be controlled with a small lever that lets things drop through. I also was surprised to discover that the canisters that hold dog trees are actually functional as well. There is a lever on the side that lets the treats drop down. Jorden discovered these on her own while playing, but I could have read the box to find this information as well. I had just focused on opening and photographing everything before she got to see the set because I knew she’d want to play and I wanted time to take photos uninterrupted, but the box explains the features as well.
The upper level has a bathroom area with a swiveling platform that has holes for polly’s feet. I’ll be honest – I thought this was more for looks and that polly would fall if she were stood up into the platform and then the lever was slid over. However, I was excited to find out that when polly’s shoes are on, she fits into the platform securely and she does stay standing upright when the platform moves from side to side which is really neat.
Overall we were really impressed with the set overall, especially all of its little features that take it to the next level instead of just being a house to play with pollys in. I know my sister will get tons of playtime out of this set.
