Ugglebo (pronounced oog-le-boo) is a Swedish company that has been making clogs since the 60’s. Since their beginning, clogs have always been handmade in Sweden using traditional techniques and with only the highest quality materials. Even though they are traditionally made, Ugglebo clogs come in many trendy styles! They have been able to blend old and new in a very unique way to create beautiful footwear.

Ugglebo offers a clog collection with low, mid, and high heels as well as wedges. They also offer ankle and tall clog boots! They come in a range of colors from neutrals like black, tan, mocha and mushroom to bright red and deep blue. There are even paisley prints in their Vintage collection!

In case you are not familiar with clogs, you should know that they are made with leather and the sole is made of wood. Ugglebo uses alder wood and leather is fastened to the wood using staples.

Since winter is coming – I know, I know, I’m in denial too – I should mention that they offer a beautiful shearling collection with a variety of clog boots in black or tan. I’ll admit I wasn’t familiar with shearling. Sure I’d heard the word but I’d never had a pair of shearling boots myself so I didn’t really know what to expect when I was told I would received a pair of Pasco Mid Clog Boots. I was excited to have the opportunity to see for myself what the fuss is all about. Plus, I like how soft they look.

To be honest, I was skeptical when I read that they can be worn almost year round. How? Wouldn’t they be too warm in the summer and not warm enough in the winter?

I did my research and turns out shearling, which is sheepskin or lambskin pelt with leather or suede on one side and shorn fibers on the other, has some unique properties:

The fibers of shearling tend to wick away moisture or retain moisture, depending on humidity, and thus a garment or item of footwear made from them tends to be comfortable year round  (from Wikipedia)

Here’s what my beautiful Pasco Mid Clog Boots look like:

When I received my clog boots, the first thing I noticed was how light they are. Honestly, given their wooden base, I thought they would be much heavier. I’d say they weigh about the same as my other pair of warm winter boots. In terms of warmth, I’ve worn them many times now both in warm and cooler weather and they are always comfortable!

I’m impressed with the workmanship involved in making these boots. I can’t imagine how much work goes into making each clog by hand! Notice the little Ugglebo owl on the heel? So cute! I like that I have the option of wearing them folded down or unfolded.  They look fantastic with skinny jeans or with a dress or skirt. You can wear them to work or for a night out, either way they’ll look great!

I know you’re just as curious as I was about how they fit. Since the sole is entirely made out of wood, there isn’t much flexibility so at first, it felt a little weird. The heel to toe movement just isn’t as fluid because the sole doesn’t bend and stretch. It took all of 5 minutes to get use to it and that was it. And believe me, I’m not the most agile in uncomfortable shoes and high heel shoes so you have to trust me when I say they are easy to wear. They are also super comfortable, not too tight, not too lose so my feet are happy! The wool feels fabulous, it’s like a little cushion all around my feet.

If you look under the clog boots, you’ll see that they have applied a rubber layer with grooves for more traction in wet or snowy conditions. I can’t wait to wear them this winter!

When you’re thinking about buying your own pair of clogs, it’s important to remember that they fit differently from regular shoes which means that some styles are not true to size. Ugglebo clearly states which styles are not true to size and provides a size chart to make sure you get clogs that fit! For example, I usually wear a size 8 but had to order my shearling clog boots 2 sizes bigger. A size 8 would have been way too small so please follow their size chart. In case you end up ordering the wrong size, Ugglebo is kind enough to cover the shipping fee to exchange your unworn clogs (see their policy for more information.)

Ugglebo has partnered with an organization called ‘Donate Your Shoes’ to provide shoes to kids and adults who cannot afford them. Their initiative, called ‘Re-Clog The World’ encourages people to send in their old clogs so they can be donated to people who need them. In exchange, Ugglebo gives a 25% discount on the purchase of new clogs. Many years from now, I will definitely send my clogs in. I’ll be happy to do my part to help out, less fortunate people will happy to have shoes to wear, I’ll be even happier that Ugglebo rewards my good deed, and I’ll get brand new clogs at a great price! Happiness all around!

Speaking of happiness, I can’t tell you how much I love my new clog boots!
