As moms, we are constantly told about products that we absolutely need. I am always very cautious of such claims because I know there are very few baby products that are truly essential. For me, one of those essentials is a good wet bag!
Some of you might know from my previous reviews that I cloth diaper my baby. It’s been a very positive experience so far and I think one of the factors that made our experience so positive was having the right accessories from soap to wet bags.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with wet bags, they are fabric bags with an inner waterproof layer that you can use to store anything from dirty cloth diapers, dirty clothes, wet swim suits or sportswear, etc. They are very versatile. I have 5 large ones and 2 smaller ones and I use them constantly, not only to store cloth diapers. I also use them when I travel to organize my suitcase: one small wet bag for makeup and toiletries, one wet bag for socks and underwear, etc. I also carry smaller ones in my purse/diaper bag for toys for my daughter and snacks/drinks.
Slightly Befuddled sells beautiful wet bags in colorful and unique fabrics. Actually, you can find a lot more than wet bags in her store: there are also boxy cosmetic bags, make-up pouches, pencil cases, diaper and wipes clutches, changing pads, etc. What is great is that you have the possibility of choosing your favorite fabric from her large selection.
For me, the ideal wet bag has a zipper closure, is large enough to contain 3-days worth of diaper inserts, doesn’t leak (obviously!) and has a sturdy loop so I can hang it on a door knob. Slightly Befuddled wet bags have all this and have the added bonus of being gorgeous! Seriously, Rebekah offers so many fabrics that you’ll be able to create a unique wet bag that will coordinate perfectly with any room decor or style!
Rebekah created an extra-large wet bag just for me with a red polka dot print accented with a beautiful blue ikat print. I like that she uses 2 contrasting fabrics, it makes the bag more visually interesting. It’s a great size: approximately 16 by 18 inches (she also offers smaller 11” x 14” wet bags). I can easily fit 3 days worth of inserts and covers in it. In the picture beside, I packed it full with 24 Grovia inserts and I could have probably put a few more in it. Both the inner and outer fabrics are of great quality and after using it every day for a while, I haven’t had any issues with it. It’s sturdy and washes well.
The only thing I might change about it is that, contrary to my other wet bags, the inner waterproof fabric is sewn directly with the outer fabric along the side of the bag. I air-dry my wet bags to make sure that they last for a long time and to reduce the drying time, I typically turn the inner layer out of the outer layer but I can’t with this one because it’s sewn in place. I should say that it’s a minor detail and doesn’t affect the overall quality or functionality of the wet bag.
Wet bags are greener and far prettier than any plastic bag you could use. They have become one of my favorite baby shower gifts for new moms, whether or not they are going to cloth diaper. And now, with Slightly Befuddled, it’ll not only be a smart gift but also a stylish one! The fact that you can create a unique fabric combination especially for her will make any mom or mom-to-be feel extra special.

I hadn’t heard of wet bags before but they sound like a very useful item! I think I’ll have to get one and I don’t even have kids. 🙂
A wet bag is always a must have for kids – even if you don’t cloth diaper!
