When I get ready to give gifts to those close to me, I try to think of things that they have mentioned wanting. If I haven’t heard them admit to wanting anything in particular, I tend to gravitate towards practical gifts. Do they need socks? A new winter hat? Slippers?

Ryan always tells me that practical gifts lack personality, and I have to admit that he has a point most of the time. Stompeez are a practical gift with a TON of personality.

Here in Michigan our winters get pretty cold. Even with our thermostat kept at 70 degrees all the time, the floors that aren’t carpeted get chilly. Stompeez are a great, practical way to keep little feet (or even big feet!) nice and toasty.

Stompeez dragons

Stompeez are super cute slippers in various animal or creature designs such as monsters, rabbits, puppies and more. They are offered in three sizes – small, medium and large. The website says that size small are for toddlers in shoe sizes 5-11, while medium is for children in shoe sizes 11.4-4 and size large will fit shoe sizes 5-9 which is for teens on up. I was sent a size Medium for my nephews to check out and I would warn everyone that they are sized really large. I wear a size 7.5 in women’s and while they aren’t comfortable, I can squeeze my entire foot into these. I think someone with a size 6.5 or smaller in women’s shoe size could fit into a medium without a problem.

In addition to being super cute slippers, they are also “animated” slippers. When you take a step, your weight presses against a device inside the pad of the dragon slipper that causes the mouth of the slipper to open up like it’s talking or eating. For the bunny slippers and some others, instead of the mouth opening the ears pop up and down. For the one eyed monster slippers, the eyeball pops up and down. They’re all really cute. I was a bit surprised that the device that triggers the animation seems to be located 3 or so inches up from the heel instead of up by the toes or by the heel. This is nice in a way because for children who are at the smaller range of shoe sizes for the slippers will still be able to trigger the shoes but if your heel hits behind that mark, they only open every 2nd or 3rd step instead of each time.

While I can certainly see these being a great gift for children, I also think tweens and young teens could find these to be quirky and cute as well. I personally would have gotten a kick out of these even in middle school or early high school.
