I have 2 large dogs. We like to go on walks in the woods, go to the beach, etc. I typically end up having to bring with me 1-2 bottles of water, a small collapsible bowl, 2 leashes, and of course a handful of waste bags. My hands and pockets are full, while my dogs are running around carrying… well, nothing!

All this changed when I discovered Doodie Packs! These packs were initially designed to allow dog owners to walk their dogs without having to carry waste bags around. Yes, there is a large pleated pocket designed specifically to put your dog’s waste bag! It stays shut thanks to an applix (Velcro) closure. But they didn’t stop there. This bag has many more features.

Doodie Packs are made of durable, breathable nylon. They come in many different colors: purple, red, orange, yellow, teal, black, green, royal blue, sorbet (fushia), and pink. The piping along the edge of the bag is made of reflective tape which is a nice safety feature when you go for walks early morning or later in the evening. Since dogs come in all shapes and sizes, Doodie Packs are available in 3 sizes: small for 8-25 lb dogs, medium for 25-60 lb dogs, and large for 60-180+ lb dogs.

There are 3 adjustable straps. Two of them go around the dog’s belly and the other one goes across its chest. I found it was easy to install and get a great fit. The pack stays in place very well even when it’s full. The straps don’t seem to bother my dogs at all.

There is a handle on top of the bag which makes it easy to place and remove the pack. It’s also great if you want to hang it on a hook.

As I said before, on the one side, there is a solid pocket that is as wide as the bag itself.  On the other side of the bag, there are 2 mesh pockets. This gives you ample storage for your dog’s waste bag, a roll of waste bags, a water bottle, a collapsible bowl, and a ball or a toy to play at the park. On the medium and large models, there is a key hook inside one of the mesh pockets so you can even have your dog carry your keys!

Doodie Packs have also been used to train dogs. It helps them recognize that they are in work mode. You can also add a bit of weight in the pockets to make walks a little more challenging (up to the recommended 25% of your dog’s body weight).
