On the lock & deadbolt set I bought both of the screws came undone and I was left holding the handle in my hand once on the outside of the house in -25 degree temperature and once on the inside with my hands full to go out the door. The handles are only attached with  a short screw and you have to re-tighten them all the time. The deadbolt latch has a set screw that falls out (fell out twice on mine) sure they give you a spare but what happens is they disappear because they are so small. Found a replacement a the local automotive store that finally held. Took the thing back what a pain. E-mailed the company(Brinks} to complain and got attitude from a customer service rep. who stated to me they never have a problem with their locks maybe I got a defective part 3 of them in the same set?????????? Offered me a new set or parts for it. WHY WOULD I WANT TO GO THROUGH ALL THAT HASSLE ON A REGULAR BASIS????????????? He couldn’t understand why I was upset of course he’s in California and wouldn’t have a clue what-25 degree temperature is.

I too have experience with similar removal techniques, and you brought back fresh memories. You could use the same technique to defeat several of the “cheap” locksets sold a few years ago. I liked the convenience, and was about to purchase 5 for my own use. Not now.

On the KNOB style you can get into the house without any key! I work at one of the stores that sells this product (that is why I am afraid to post a review on the stores site that sells this product) and we discoverd that you just push the pin on the side of the handle (side with the key cylinder) and pull the handle off (how we get this unit apart to rekey the cylinder) and then just take needle nose pliers and turn the inside and your in the house, 1 minute tops. On any other lockset that we rekey you need to put the original key into the lockset, then turn it to get the handle off. NOT WITH THIS ONE. I am not sure about the lever style. Have to check that out when I go back to work and test that one.

I’m always trying to go through closed doors with hands full of laundry, or toys I’m putting back into the toddler’s room! Love this idea.
