I tried the dog treats; beef jerky; peanut butter. The worst mistake I made. These treats caused my dogs to have diarrhea and one seems to have a bout with colitis due to the ingredients. I learned that barley is very bad for dogs, plus these treats have preservatives. My dogs were fine and pooping normal before i gave them the treats on Saturday, here we are Wednesday and one of my dogs is pooping mucous and blood in his stool. I have always cooked for my dogs as I don’t trust dog foods., but decided to try Newmans being they stated natural and it was the biggest mistake. Now I have a nice vet bill thanks to these treats. Do your research on all ingredients. These foods are not healthy for my dogs. 2 of my dogs still have soft stools but getting better due to pumpkin and boiled turkey breast, but my shitzu is still pooping mucous & blood. Don’t trust the advertising on these products. Again do research on all ingredients before you feed your pet. Natural is best. I made a big mistake buying this product and now my poor baby is paying for it. SO DISAPPOINTED!

I just recently tried Newman’s own Dog Biscuits the other day. Like some other commenters I did not know there was a pet food line in that brand until I saw it shopping online. I tried the Turkey and Sweet Potato variety and was impressed by the nutritional balance and the lack of objectionable and/or useless inert ingredients like chicken beaks and toenails (those sorts of things should be reserved for scrapple). Much like an earlier poster Cairo had a bit of sniffing and licking the first time, if she hears or smells when I open the bag she comes a runnin’. I assume that means she approves as well albeit for different reasons. As with other Newman’s products I have tried over the years I was not disappointed.

I have to be honest here and I am not sure if I want to trust Newton with my dog food, I thought he makes other products not dog food. I am not saying its not good after all I have never tried this brand, will have to try it out on the dogs.

I didn’t know he had a pet line. I actually use one of his salad dressings on a regular basis. One of a few that I can find that is low in sodium.
