Each state has their own requirements. Some require none, others require more reporting and testing.

So many options! Look for a local homeschool group Facebook page or homeschool co-op and the opportunities are endless. In our community (which is pretty small!), we have tons of opportunities. There are homeschool teen nights, co-ops, field trips, 4H groups, homeschool sports, AWANA, youth group, and more.

There are different options here. Often times, there are local homeschool co-ops where subjects are being taught. You can sign your kiddo up there if you’d rather not teach it yourself. Another option is to learn the subject along side your kids. Some families choose to hire a tutor to teach a specific subject. Some states, like MN, allow you to enroll your child in one (or more) classes with your district if you’d like as well.

In our state, yes! One of my kiddos didn’t technically qualify for speech but the school speech therapist said it would still be beneficial so he said he would still meet with him! So we had speech once a week for a couple months. I just drove him to school and then we went back home right after.

There’s multiple ways to do this. Either teach a curriculum that can include everyone (but different assignments will look different for each child/age) or divide and conquer. Our family does divide and conquer. Each child has their own curriculum and I rotate and help whoever needs me at the moment. If more than one child needs help, I have one skip over to reading, journaling, flashcards, or another task until I’m free. If it’s a younger child who needs help, sometimes an older sibling will jump up to help before I even have a chance to respond! The older kids love helping their siblings most of the time.

There are! In our state, kids can participate with their district teams or we have a variety of homeschool sports available too.

Great question! There are so many options. Our family chooses to participate in a homeschool co-op, First Friday Teen nights, field trips with our local homeschool group, AWANA, youth group, and more! There are lots of chances for socializing if you look.

The great thing about homeschooling (at least in our state) is that homeschooled children CAN sign up for classes if they’d like! So I could enroll my kiddos in a specific subject and bring them to our local school each day for it if we’d so choose. They can also play in sports with our district if we wanted.

Great question! It really depends on the child and family. I didn’t personally use a preschool curriculum and instead just focussed more on reading aloud to my kids and playing games. I also included the kids in the kitchen when it came to baking, measuring, pouring, etc.
