Still, we occasionally lose power. Five or six years ago there was a bad winter storm just before Christmas that left a ton of people I know without electricity for almost a week, including on Chrismas day. 

I’m really grateful that I’ve never lost electricity during cold weather, but we did once lose power for three or four days in the summer.

Ryan has wanted to have a garden forever now. We planted a balcony garden back in 2012, I think it was. While we were out of state for a weekend, a huge storm came in with really high winds. When we go back, our pots had been upturned. We tried repotting, but we only go a couple of veggies. 

About four years ago we started tilling part of our yard that we were renting, and before we go seeds in the ground our landlord told us they were selling the house, so we didn’t plant anything as we wouldn’t be there for the whole summer anyway. 

The house we’re renting now is in town, so gardening in the yard is not allowed.

The first of September we got the keys to a new apartment. It’s hard to believe we’ve been here almost two months already! We are still making small changes to the apartment to make it suit our needs a bit better. It’s actually a stand-alone house, but it’s tiny at just under 400 square feet! It is on the same plot of land as a larger house that has 3 apartments in it, so we are considered ‘apartment 4’ despite technically having our own tiny house. 

Anyway…one of the adjustments we’ve made since moving is trying to get used to having a stand-up shower only, rather than a bath.

As the seasons are changing, I’m itching to make some changes around our house too! I’ve been searching out fun decor and ways to brighten up many of our rooms. For the kids bedrooms, we decided to go with brand new bedding from Morning Bird, and they were SO excited to see their new sets! Morning Bird offers a variety of bedding for kids with relevant characters and, best of all, the products are organic so I can feel great about my kids curling up in them at night.

I received product from AirThreds to facilitate this ‘AirThreds Machine Washable Furnace Air Filter Review’.  As always, all opinions are my own.

The primary function of a furnace filter is to trap airborne contaminants (not necessarily for air quality purposes), but to keep them out of the heating and cooling system. However, because the filter removes contaminants for the system’s benefit, air quality also tends to benefits from their removal. 

The last time I purchased furnace filters, I about fell over.  I couldn’t believe the price of just one filter!  My husband said to make sure not to grab the cheapest ones as I did that the time before and they were worthless.   We quickly found the ‘cheapies’ truly didn’t do anything to stop dust and debris as everything went right through them.

I was given a gift card to WAMA to purchase underwear for review. All opinions are my own.

Hemp fabric is naturally anti-bacterial, breathable, soft, and it has anti-odor properties. So, it lends itself to clothing in general quite nicely, but it’s a particularly great match for underwear. Hemp is organic and eco-friendly. It’s hard to really think of a reason NOT to go with hemp. I think most of us just aren’t used to seeing it offered in stores very often!
