Growing up, I couldn’t wait to be a mom.  I was very driven and goal orientated so I started an in-home daycare (by renting out part of my parents house) three days after graduating high school.  My (future) husband and I went out on our first date when I was 18 and we married two years later.  My dream of becoming a mother came true for the first time when I was 22.  We have now been married for almost 21 years and currently have six biological children as well as one foster son!  

I have always been a huge advocate for breastfeeding.  I was the first of my friends to have kids and none of my close family nursed their babies but when we had our first, it was instinctively something I knew I wanted for our children.  (Don’t get me wrong, I fully support every mother’s choice to feed their baby how they’d like, but this was the path I chose.)  I have since successfully breastfed and pumped all six of our children, but not without some bumps along the way with our last.  However, by six months old she finally decided to latch and nurse and I was able to retire from full-time pumping!
