Thank you to Kimberly Sentek for providing me with a copy of her brand new book “Oh Brother! A Nico and Tugger Tale”, free of charge, for review. These are my own honest opinions.
We read stories to our children every night before bedtime and throughout the day whenever the kids ask. So when I was happy to review this new book by Kimberly Sentek called “Oh Brother! A Nico and Tugger Tale.” This book starts out telling “Nico’s Tale.” Nico is a dog who was an only dog and was very happy with his life. However, one day, his Mommy and Daddy brought home another puppy. The book goes on to talk about how the new puppy acted like a baby and cried at night, stole Nico’s toys, and drove Nico crazy. The new puppy got most of the attention now and Nico began to feel left out since everyone would want to meet Tugger when they came over. Nico goes on to act out by chewing on shoes but found out that he only got punished for that behavior.
Nico goes on to learn that it wasn’t always so bad having Tugger around because Tugger would make him laugh and would play with him. As the puppy grew, Nico and Tugger started to get along better and better. Nico didn’t feel so left out and discovered that it was nice to have a friend near by. After 99 days of having a brother, Nico decides that he likes his life this new way.
Next, Tugger goes on to tell his side of the story. He was a puppy who wanted a brother that he could play with. Someone who could be his friend forever. However, when he got to his new home, he was sad and cried. Tugger wanted to play all the time and was confused that Nico would go and hide whenever he came around. So then Tugger played with Nico’s toys himself but that only made Nico a grouch. So Tugger continues trying new ways to make Nico his friend. He started rolling balls to him, showed Nico where all the bones were, and stopped trying to take his food. Tugger is happy to have a brother and loves how close they have become.
As you can see from the storyline, this book is a great way to introduce a new sibling into the family. Adding a baby can be a stressful time for the older sibling in the family as they feel a lot of the same things that Nico felt. By reading this book to your older child, they can see that everything will be okay as they grow to be great friends with their sibling. You can also show your child the real Nico & Tugger over at Kimberly Sentek’s site as well as check out some of the other fun stuff she has available such as crossword puzzles, coloring pages, and word searches.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.

I have to say Kimberly is so funny. After reading the 99 things about her I was laughing so hard. I also love Bon Jovi but not like she does. She seems like a really cool lady. I even had a few things in common with those 99 things.
Thank you for the cute giveaway 🙂
