I enjoy wearing my baby. Our youngest loves to be held and wearing him gives me the opportunity to meet his need of being held and still accomplish other tasks in our daily life.  Among other things, I am able to play games, read books, and help our other children with school work while “holding” him too.

There are so many different kinds of carriers on the market today that it is hard to know what the difference is.  I had the opportunity to review a carrier from HotSlings. The HotSlings carrier is an adjustable “pouch” style sling.  The carrier is one piece of material that you place over one shoulder crossways over your body.  Then you slide your baby into the fold “pouch” to wear them.  You can have your babies whole lower body in the carrier for younger infants or just support their bum in the pouch for older infants.  Since my little guy just turned one, his legs were out of the pouch.  The HotSlings Carrier is made out of 97% cotton and 3% spandex.  The filling is 100% cotton.  The sling comes in two sizes: regular for 23″ to 26″ shoulder to hip measurement and large for 27″ to 30″.  The sling is adjustable and has two tri-glides that allow the sling to fit comfortably on different body types.  As with any carrier, you always want to follow the safety guidelines.  HotSlings carrier is safe for babies from 8 to 35 pounds.

This was my first experience with a sling carrier.  However, I found it to be quite easy to figure out.  The first thing you’ll notice when taking your HotSlings out of the package is the bag it comes in.  It’s a free diaper pod that matches your carrier or a pouch to store your carrier in.  The sling is washable but I like having a place to keep it so it stays cleaner.

I was a little worried about how secure the sling would feel but I felt comfortable enough to even do a little cooking with our youngest in it.  It may help that he always holds on to me no matter how I’m carrying or wearing him.  I will be watching my new niece this fall and I’m excited to try this out on a younger baby too.  I feel like different carriers are needed for different situations.  I like that HotSlings has made such a portable carrier.  I will be keeping this in my car or diaper bag so I have something handy when I need it.  I’m thinking this will be extra useful when I make grocery store runs.  If you put your child in the cart, there seems to be very little room for any food.

HotSlings has a variety of different colors and patterns to suit different tastes.  Head over to their site to view them all.  You can also connect with HotSlings on Facebook and Pinterest.  One lucky Emily Reviews reader will win their own HotSlings Pouch Sling.  Giveaway is open to the US and will end on July 6, 2013.
