Thank you Lakeshore Learning for sending me samples, free of charge, for review.
All opinions are my own.
Lakeshore Learning began back in 1954 with Ethelyn Kaplan and an idea. She decided to take a chance and pack her family up to head to California and open a toy store. While her initial customers where parents, it wasn’t long before schools began calling her for classroom materials and art supplies. After seeing such a need, Mrs. Kaplan sold her toy store and began Lakeshore Learning. Eventually, her sons and now grandsons became an integral part of this company as well. With a mission to create innovative educational products and instill a spark for lifelong learning, those at Lakeshore Learning have a passion for what they do.
Summer is over half over and it’s time to start thinking about back-to-school. While we usually have good intentions to keep up with practicing basic skills, the business and heat of Summer can sometimes put those intentions on the back burner. Lakeshore Learning sent me the Self-Teaching Math Machines Full Set for review. I am really impressed with the quality and ease of use that these math machines bring to practicing math facts. I like that this set encompasses addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division so it will be used for years to come. Kids love to learn and the key is to make it fun. The math machines make practicing math drills a little more fun than me just drilling them. While the math machines can be used independently by children, I find it beneficial to be a part of the process at least some times. We also like to make up little games while using the math machines. We take turns saying and then checking math facts or try to find math problems that are “matches.” While the Math Machines do make a click noise when the buttons are pushed, I don’t find it overly disrupting and the kids like it.
Key Features/Benefits:
~Portable
~Solid Construction
~Easy To Use
~Allows Self Checking
~Hands On Learning
~Engaging
Lakeshore Learning’s Self-Teaching Math Machines are great for all ages. Children who are just learning as well as those who are brushing up their skills enjoy using the math machines. They make practicing so easy and convenient that learning and fun ends up hand in hand. I would love to see Lakeshore Learning make each of the boards in different colors so the kids could easily distinguish which level they were grabbing. Otherwise, there isn’t a think I would change.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.
