I had never heard of coffeefruit until I was introduced to Bai. The founder, Ben Weiss, discovered the antioxidant powerhouse of coffeefruit in his quest to find the best high quality green coffee. After this discovery, Ben headed to his kitchen and spent over a year creating a healthful beverage. Bai was founded in August of 2009 and was originally only found in health food stores throughout Princeton, New Jersey. As word spread, though, so did the demand for Bai and you were soon able to find it in stores throughout the northeast and California. Within months of founding, Bai launched its second line, Bai5, which is a 100% Natural, five calories per serving beverage.

We don’t drink soda in our home except on the very rare special occasions.  So I am always searching for alternatives that I can serve as a treat for my family.  I personally love water but it’s definitely nice to have a little variety from time to time.  I was sent an assortment of Bai5 drinks to test.  I had some friends over so we all took turns and tasted all the flavors.  It was fun to see that we each seemed to have a different favorite.  Our 6 year old son liked the Molokai Coconut best and finished off the remainder after our taste testing was over while my husband liked the Brasilia Blueberry and our friends preferred the Sumatra Dragonfruit.  I think I was tied between the Costa Rica Clementine and the Sumatra Dragonfruit.  The one consensus was that the Limu Lemon was the least favorite with our group.  It was a lot of fun trying all the different flavors and I would definitely purchase more Bai 5 drinks.

  • All of these sound delicious, but especially the Congo Pear! I’ll have to look for these when I’m out shopping – I love healthy alternatives!

  • The Panama Peach sounds really yummy! Thanks for the review!

I picked up the coconut flavor when it was a Kroger Friday freebie, several weeks ago, and stashed it away in the cupboard. It’s been on sale at Amazon lately so I should try it and get some more if I like it. I always get the clear or light colors in case I spill it, it won’t make as much of a mess!!

I was at a small country market deli in East Sacramento, They only served poisonous Coca-cola fountain drinks so I found a fridge
full of healthier alternative. I grabbed a bottle of Bai Antioxidant Infusion Ipanema Pomegranate Thinking it looked tasty and safe to drink (no Hi-fructose Corn Syrup and the like). While drinking I noticed it contained a FULL 2% juice. What F’n joke, for $3 a bottle. Mostly water, well atleast I was not drinking Hi-fructose Corn Syrup. I will avoid ALL Bai products in the future.
