When I had our first child over eight years ago, I didn’t personally know anyone who wore their baby.  I did purchase a really cheap carrier on a whim before our daughter was born but ended up being extremely disappointed in the lack of comfort it offered me and our daughter seemed to hate it so I only used it once.  By the time I had our second child, the baby-wearing movement was spreading in our area and I now knew a handful of people who wore their children.  We now have four children and I have been an avid baby-wearer for the past 6 years.  I find many benefits to baby-wearing such as: I get to hold and snuggle my baby while having free hands, my arms don’t get tired, I can keep our little ones close to me and still cook, clean, and accomplish tasks.

BABYBJÖRN has just come out with a new carrier called the Baby Carrier One.  It will be available in stores starting October 2013 but is available for preorder now.  This new carrier is made to be used on both the front and back positions and can be used from newborn (8#) up to approximately 3 years (33#).

I was delighted when BABYBJÖRN sent me a Baby Carrier One for review.  I am always on the search for great carriers and the Baby Carrier One intrigued me.  I liked the fact that as my child grows out of the newborn stage, the carrier offers a seat height adjustment and a wide leg position for optimal comfort.

When the BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier One arrived, I couldn’t wait to get it out of the box.  The carrier is one piece and comes ready to use.  When I picked the Baby Carrier One up, I was happy to discover that it felt soft, thick, and of great quality.  The waist and shoulder straps have a nice amount of padding to aid in keeping the wearer comfortable.  The buckles were different than any I’ve ever seen before but are very easy to use and I was able to figure them out with no trouble.

Our son is 15 months old and I tend to wear him mostly on my back unless we are going for a long walk and he’s sleepy, then I enjoy cuddling him on my front since he’s more likely to be snuggly.  I like that the BABYBJÖRN Baby Carrier One makes it easy to switch from front carry to back carry without ever having to take the carrier or child off.  It was one nice quick motion to swing him around to my back and slip my arms back in.  The carrier and our son stayed snug and secure the entire time.  I wore him around the farm and we visited the cows and kitties.  I liked having my arms free and our little guy enjoyed being able to check out the animals while staying close and safe.
