This is my third post on Super Duper Publications and I am enjoying using their products with our children more and more each day. They have some great educational products that can accommodate so many different learning styles. Now I want to share with you our thoughts on the Pirate Talk Board Game we received for review. The game includes a large (18″ by 18″) Sturdy Game Board, 150 Color Coded Cards, 6 Player Pirates, 100 Gold Coins, and the Electronic Spinner. The spinner takes 1.5 volt button cell batteries but they are included. I like the fact that you can turn the volume off on the spinner although the kids prefer it on.
The Pirate Talk Board Game is a language game that is geared for children ages Kindergarden through 5th Grade. While I do include our 3 year old when we play, he is only able to comprehend about half of the game. Our 6 and 8 year old were able to fully participate and understand everything.
Pirate Talk can be easily adapted to the needs of the child or children playing as there are several different game options to choose from. During the game, the children are working on sentence repetition, answering questions, following directions, categorizing, inferencing, describing, and social skills. You can also choose which category you take a card from depending on the child whose turn it is. The five different categories are: Activities, Community, Home, People, and School. Each card has a colored picture on one side and then a question that fits into practicing different communication skills to go along with the picture.
The kids stay intrigued the whole time we play, the first time being 45 minutes before I called time so I could make supper. I like the Game Variations they offer and the fact that you can end the game whenever you want or need to. The kids liked earning the gold coins. Because this is such an open-ended game, you can make up other ways to use the cards, board, and coins for whatever your needs are.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.
