We have four children ages 1 though 8.  Our oldest is a girl and the rest are boys.  Even so, being a house full of boys has never stopped dolls, strollers, and playing house from being a common occurrence in our home.  I also did daycare for five years and it’s amazing to see the imaginations and nurturing spirits of the little boys I cared for.  So when I was offered the chance to review the Heart 2 Heart Tour Set, I was excited for our daughter and our sons to give it a try.

The Tour Set arrived quickly and was packaged together in one box.  When we took everything out, I thought it looked simple enough for the kids and I to give assembly a try.  Our 6 year old son is really good at figuring things out and has found the place for a “left over” piece on more than one occasion so I felt confident that he would be a great asset to me as I attempted this.  I was right as he both assembled and read the directions to me when he needed help.  When I did question something he told me, he handed me the directions and, sure enough, he was right!  All in all, the assembly took less than ten minutes.  Being a rookie, I thought that was pretty good.

Quality doll toys are not always easy to find.  We have had more than one purchase fall apart before it’s barely been played with.  Thankfully, the Heart 2 Heart Tour Set lands on the other end of the spectrum while offering some great qualities.  The Tour Stroller is lightweight so even our 1 year old is able to easily push it.  The stroller also maneuvers very easily.  The first comment our 8 year old said was “Wow!  This pushes nice!”  She was quite excited and surprised.

The Tour Set Car Seat has a built in bar across the front to hold the “baby” in.  I like the fact that there is no buckle to deal with.  Young children usually struggle and get frustrated because they are unable to close it themselves so the built in bar is a great feature and our little boy who just turned three had no problems getting Bear in and out of the seat since you just slip them right in.

One thing that I have never seen before on a children’s play set is where the carseat actually snaps onto the stroller.  To release, you just push the dark pink heart buttons and lift up.  I’ve seen sets where they just sit on top (and fall off when the child pushes) but the Tour Set actually snaps in like a real set would.  The part the kids really like is the carseat can face either direction as well.  One final feature I want to mention is the plastic basket.  Cloth baskets tend to stretch out over time but I know that the Tour Set will last since it’s plastic.  The basket is in a great location towards the back of the stroller and easily accessible for my kids to pile full.

We have been playing with our Heart 2 Heart Tour Set and having a blast.  The only thing I would change is the canopy is a little hard to click open and shut and the kids struggle to work it.  I do wonder if it won’t loosen up with use though.  I am able to work it just fine so hopefully it will get easier for our children as well.  Other than that issue, this set is putting on many miles around our home.
