Halloween is coming fast and we are slowly getting ready. I think we have our costumes just about ready to go and last week we bought a nice big pumpkin for carving.  This will be the first year that we have purchased a larger (Jack-o-lantern) pumpkin but we figured the kids are getting old enough that they will enjoy the work involved in this task.  In the past, we’ve just used the small ones that grow in our garden for our carving needs.  While I have tried to grow bigger pumpkins, they never get very large.  Basketball size is probably the biggest we’ve ever harvested from our garden.  On top of costumes and carving pumpkins, we like to get into the Halloween spirit by attending the local kids Halloween Carnival and watching some fun (but not scary) Halloween themed movies.

Cinedigm has released the un-spooky un-hauntingly entertaining children’s movie “Spookley The Square Pumpkin” for the 2013 Halloween season. Since the release date was September 10th, you can readily find Spookley for your family’s entertainment. “Spookley The Square Pumpking” is now available for the first time in a two disk DVD and CD Set.

The kids settled in for our first viewing of “Spookley The Square Pumpkin” with much excitement.  This was the first Halloween movie of the year that we’ve seen so it was an extra special night.  This movie is filled with great characters that the kids enjoyed.  Bella the Bat, Jack the Scarecrow, Big Tom and Little Tom (both pumpkins), Spookley, and more graced the screen in this adorably entertaining movie.  The kids enjoyed watching Spookley overcome his shape issues and be accepted for who is he.  This movie has a great lesson, catchy songs, and cute graphics.  If you are in the market for some light Halloween entertainment, check out “Spookley The Square Pumpkin” as it was a crowd pleaser in our home.
