As soon as Thanksgiving is over, I like to start decorating for Christmas. When I was young, we would head out as a family and cut down our own tree on a snowy afternoon. I’m not that adventurous and we have a fake tree because I also recall how much I disliked stepping on those sharp pine needles! But even with my aversion to having a real tree, I still very much enjoy decorating and preparing for Christmas. While my husband and I have not agreed on the perfect time to start, I prefer to start on Black Friday and he prefers to start about two days before Christmas, we all enjoy the holidays, festivities, and decorations that come with it. Since we have four young children, I’ve been winning the decorating timeline because they are always as excited as I am to get started. This year, I am happy to partner with Balsam Hill on this review.
I was sent the Scotch Pine Garland. The garland is 10 feet long and features long pine needles in a rich mix of green hues and beautiful clear LED lights. The lights are UL approved outdoor rated so it can be used for outside decorating. The Scotch Pine Garland is rich and thick and offers a festive charm.
The garland came packaged up in a nice tight bunch, however, I was able to straighten it with minimal effort. Once pulled straight, it held it’s shape nicely.
Originally, I was hoping to wrap the garland around our banister but it is quite old and the spokes are so close together that we were unable to fit this plush garland through very easily. So my plan b was to hang in our doorway. This doorway is right off the kitchen and in sight of our main entry. I was excited to be able to add a nice festive touch here since I spend a lot of time in our kitchen. My husband was easily able to hang the Scotch Pine Garland by hooking it onto three nails he inserted into the wall above the trim.
The garland is perfect for bringing some Christmas cheer and a charming feel to the room. The colors are beautiful, the lights are pretty and classic, and the rustic charm adds warmth to our home.

I’m a city girl turned country by my awesome husband and we have three busy boys and two darling daughters. I love spending time with my family, reading Karen Kingsbury novels, and catching up with friends while our kiddos have play dates. I’m blessed beyond measure and can’t wait to see what God has in store.

We live in the desert so keeping a real tree is major pain. You won’t believe how fast they dry out. But I miss that pine smell and I think the garland would be perfect! I’d get the smell but without all the mess!
