HGGimage2013(1)Thank you Hasbro
for providing me with products to review, free of charge.
These are my own honest opinions.

As a kid, I had many Hasbro toys and games that I loves. Now that I am a mom, it’s my pleasure to offer Hasbro products to my daughter. I know she will love them as much as I did!

Hasbro has hundreds of great gift ideas, from classic boardgames like Clue and Candyland to new toys like Nerf Rebelle Heartbreaker Bow. For this review, I received 3 hasbro logoproducts: Baby Alive Real Surprises Doll, Mr. Potato Head Tater Tub, and Chasin’ Cheeky Game.

The Baby Alive brand has been around for many years but Baby Alive dolls are constantly improving. These is now a great variety of dolls available including the Wanna Walk doll, the Bouncin’ Babbles doll, the Beautiful Now doll and much more. Each one comes with accessories that fit with the doll’s theme. The Baby Alive Real Surprises Doll is an interactive doll that I offered to my daughter after her sister was born so she had her baby to care of. It has shiny blond hair and great big blue eyes that close when baby is laid down. It comes with all the essentials that a baby needs: dress, bib, bottle, bowl, spoon, pacifier, 3 diapers, 3 doll food packets. The doll moves her head and speaks many phrases. She’ll tell you when she wants to eat or drink (it’ll only talk when a child is playing with it and moving it around so you don’t need to worry about it going off in the middle of the night like some other speaking toys). This doll also drinks and eats. You can prepare doll food and feed her like you would a baby, and just like a real baby, you’ll have to change her diaper too!

My daughter loves to put her baby in her stroller, feed her, give her her bottle. It’s great to see her play ‘mommy’ and imitate what she sees me do with her sister. The only thing that I would change would be to have reusable diapers instead of disposable ones. The doll only comes with 3 diapers (you can buy more separately) and they close with stickers so when a diaper is removed, it can’t easily be reused even if it’s clean (my daughter likes to check her doll’s diaper every 5 minutes to see if it’s wet). I wish they offered cloth ones with Velcro instead. Other than that, it’s a great doll and my daughter enjoys being a mommy!

hasbro mr potato headMr Potato Head is one of Hasbro’s most popular toy. I had a few myself as a kid and I can’t believe how many new sets are available. For this review, I received the Mr Potato Head Tater Tub from Playskool. This set includes 1 potato body, shoes, 4 pairs of eyes, 1 nose, 2 ears, 3 mouths, 1 tongue, 1 baseball cap, 2 arms, 1 mustache. It comes in a convenient storage bucket with lid. Mr Potato Head is great to learn about body parts and colors as well as develop fine motor skills. It’s also a great toy to develop creativity and make-believe play. My daughter already knows all her body parts so it’s cute to see her talk about which piece she’ll add next. She doesn’t quite have enough strength to fit some parts like the arms and feet so I help her with those. She’s also learning which body part goes where. At first, she was randomly choosing body parts and putting them anywhere but she’s slowly learning that the mustache goes with the nose, the eyes go above the nose, etc. Then when her potato head is ready, it’s time for pretend play!

The last item I received is Chasin’ Monkey from Playskool. This game requires players to collect rings that are spread around the room and toss them on Cheeky’s tail. It’s not as easy as it sounds because Cheeky moves around! Once all your rings are on Cheeky’s tail, grab the banana from his mouth and dance with him to celebrate. I like the idea of this game because it develops coordination in a fun way. I do think it would be better to have a large open space to play as Cheeky tends to hit a lot of things in our small living room. He rarely gets stuck because he is able to move backwards but it takes him a little while to start moving again. Because my daughter is quite young, I ask her to put the rings on the monkey instead of tossing them because that would take all day. Soon she’ll be able to throw more accurately and we’ll start playing the ‘proper’ way. My daughter thought it was funny to see him dance at first but because there is no sound or music, she seems to have lost interest in the celebration part of it. She still likes to run around to gather her rings and ‘steal’ the monkey’s banana though.
