I received product from Jim Beam for this review. All opinions are my own.
My father-in-law is almost as difficult to shop for as my mother-in-law. It’s not that they don’t need or want anything, it’s that their idea of a perfect gift is time; time spent with their kids and grandkids. I can give them time but I also like gifting them something they can enjoy after we have left.
I asked my mother-in-law for a few gift ideas for my father-in-law and she suggested “consumables!” I know he enjoys a good cocktail. I turned to Jim Beam to help me find the perfect gifts for him.
For my review, I received four bourbon blends from Jim Beam: Maple, Honey, Red Stag Hardcore Cider and Jacob’s Ghost.
Maple infused bourbon has a hint of charred oak flavor. I think my father-in-law will enjoy this blend so I set this one aside for his Christmas gift.
Honey is the combination of real golden honey and liqueur. It has a sweet vanilla flavor. I enjoyed it on the rocks (with a cinnamon stick). This blend was a little too sweet for my husband so I have claimed it as mine!
Red Stag Hardcore Cider has the warm comforting flavors of apples and cinnamon. My husband enjoyed this blend served on the rocks.
Jacob’s Ghost is a special white whiskey. It has been aged in a white oak barrel for at least one year. My husband was really excited to gift this one to my father-in-law so we have added it to his gift pack.
All Jim Beam bourbons taste great on the rocks or in a mixed drink. While on the Jim Beam website, I found some mixed drink recipes that sounded interesting. I thought I would share some with you. (These recipes are copied directly from the Jim Beam website.)

HOT CIDER SQUARED:

Preparation- Build in a heatproof mug. Garnish with whipped cream.
GHOST OLD FASHIONED:
Ingredients- 2 parts Jacob’s Ghost™, 1 half orange slice, 1 stemmed cherry, 2-3 dashes Angostura Bitters, 1-2 sugar cubes and a Splash of Club Soda(standard) or 7-UP (sweet) or Ginger Ale (dry or Spiced)
Preparation- In an Old Fashion glass muddle the orange, cherry (preserved cherries), bitters, and sugar cubes. Fill glass with cracked ice and add bourbon. Gently stir cocktail to bring the fruit up and around the ice, splash with choice of soda.
I think Jim Beam makes a great holiday gift and hostess gift. I think my father-in-law will really enjoy his gifts. I can imagine him sharing with his card buddies and/or singing group.

Hello, my name is Laurie. My family and I live near the Oregon coast. When we aren’t at work, in school, or on the volleyball court, we enjoy traveling, cheering for our favorite sports teams, playing outdoors, and checking off items on our bucket list. We are lucky in that both sets of our parents, as well as our siblings and their families, live within an hour of us. We get together often to help one another out, celebrate milestones, and go on adventures together.

I’m not a big fan of whiskey/bourbon, but Jacob’s Ghost on the rocks with cranberry juice gets an A+. I’m going to pick up a few of these for my neighbor, as I think they would make a great gift for him. He loves whiskey/bourbon.
