*I was provided with Petbrosia Dog Food. All opinions are my own.
We all recognize that humans have different nutritional needs. For example, 5 foot tall, 110lb 20-year-old woman is going to need a lower calorie intake than a 230lb 6 foot tall guy. Athletes need different levels of carbs and protein than those of a similar size and weight who are less active. So, why do most of us accept that dogs of all sizes, ages, and activity levels should consume the same dog food? My old pugs will still get excited and run around and play with me in the yard, but only for short bursts of time – they spend a lot of their time just lying around. They are about 20 and 25lbs, so they clearly have different nutrition needs than a 2-year-old active lab, right?
Most store-bought dog foods only come in a few varieties – usually a puppy variety and an adult variety, or perhaps a small breed, regular and large breed option but that’s about it. Petbrosia believes that dogs deserve to have their food made based on their needs, so they customize dog food for dogs. For such a simple, logical idea, it’s surprising that it’s taken so long for a company to give this method a try.
I used Frank’s information while ordering from Petbrosia. I told them his breed, weight, age and activity level among other information. You can even tell them about your dogs allergies and they will avoid including those ingredients.
The bag that our food came in was pretty blank seems how the food was customized. The food inside was small pieces which is easy for my small, old dogs to chew. Paperwork came with the food that explained what was included in the blend, how many calories were in each cup and how much I should feed Frank per day. However, none of the paperwork explained why the blend was made this way. It gave me a break down of what percentage of protein, fat, etc were in the food but not why. I would like paperwork included with the order to explanation why they believed certain levels of protein, fat and fiber were ideal for Frank. In part, it would have helped me to fully understand that this blend was made based on Frank’s needs. I would have liked information explaining why they believe 415 calories per day is ideal for Frank. I’ve read some things online that say he should lose about 2-3lbs, so I had to search online to see if 415 calories/day was a level designed to help a 24lb dog lose weight or not (it is not). I’ve never had my dogs appear disinterested in any dog food, but they took to the Petbrosia just fine. It seemed like they wanted to eat more of it at a time than they do with other foods. I am not sure if this means it tasted better to them so they just wanted more, or if it could be a sign that it took more of this kibble for them to feel full.
I like knowing that the first ingredient in the food is antibiotic and hormone free de-boned chicken, and that no Petbrosia foods have corn, wheat, soy, gluten, artificial coloring or flavors. All Petbrosia blends have added probiotics. I still have a lot to learn about ‘good’ and ‘bad’ ingredients for dog foods but I know that having a protein (that is NOT a protein-meal) listed first and no corn-meal are two signs of high quality food.

I’d love to try this for my babies. I have eight dogs, including three rescues. If I win though I’d customize it for my oldest Sheltie. She’s my heart dog and means the world to me and I think she’d enjoy her own special customized bag of food! Thanks for the chance to win to try it out for my sweet old girl.
