These are my own honest opinions.
Baby clothes are so darn cute! But given their tiny size and the time they actually fit, they can be terribly expensive. If you’re like me and you can’t afford every $50 outfit you see, here are so easy ways to pimp your baby’s outfit without breaking the bank.
As a general rule, you want to look for things that can compliment many outfits so your child will be able to wear it over and over again until he or she outgrows it. Also, accessories are a fun way to experiment with sparkly and metallic materials, funky prints, bright colors. Remember, you want to bring some life into an outfit so don’t hesitate to choose bold accessories. As a mother of 2 girls, I also like that both girls can wear the same clothes, all I have to do is update some of the accessories.
So here are the 4 ways to pimp your baby’s outfit:
1. Shoes
Let’s face it, babies and kids need shoes anyway so it’s not even an extra expense. It’s more about choosing the right shoes. The number one factor when buying shoes should ALWAYS be comfort. Soft soles are best for babies and children learning how to walk. Actually soft soles are better for even for adults so please take that into account when looking for cute baby shoes. I typically have no more than 2 pairs of shoes in any given size. I have one for everyday use and sometimes I will also get a pair of shoes to fit a certain outfit or for a specific event. I really think 2 pairs of shoes ought to be enough though. I typically alternate between shoes in a solid color and multi-colored shoes. There’s really no strict rule about it, just go with whatever style you prefer.
2. Ties or bow ties
These are hugely popular for little boys at the moment. They can be clipped on shirts, sewn on to a bib, or tie around the neck. They are really fun and can add a splash of color to any outfit. I like that they look equally cute with a dress up shirt and with a onesie! There are tons of tutorials out there if you want to make your own or you can simply purchase them online (you can find tons of styles on Etsy). You can even take it a step further and get suspenders too!
3. Headbands and bows
This is one of my favorite ways to add some flair to my daughter’s outfits. I love headbands! Why? Because they come in tons of different colors and styles! I also like that they fit even on young babies whether or not they have hair. They are fairly fairly inexpensive and will last a long time which means you’ll get a good use out of them. There is an online store that I particularly like: KhyKouture, where you can get headbands, loopy bow clips, and even matching crib shoes. They offer many different designs, some bright and bold, some more neutral, some that make a big statement, some that are more delicate. The elastic bands come in many different sizes so you can get a perfect fit. They are all well designed with attention to details. I especially like the small felt pieces that go against the skin to avoid any scratching.
4. Hats
Sun hats, fedoras, top hats, straw hats, caps… They can all pimp an outfit in the blink of an eye! Again, I tend to combine style and funtionality when it comes to hats. I’ll have a few sun hats in different styles and colors. What’s important is to choose a hat that provides good protection against the sun. Other than that, you’re really free to pick any style and color you like. If you have a little bit of spare time, I suggest you learn to knit or crochet baby hats like the one in the picture on the left. They are so cute and not as difficult as one might think (especially the crochet ones). They’ll cost you a bit of yarn and a bit of time but you’ll get bragging rights!
Shoes, ties, headbands, and hats, these are all fun and easy ways to bring some pazazz into an otherwise plain outfit. Don’t hesitate to go for bold and sparkly. Have fun with it and let your kid’s personality shine through!

The right shoe can change your life. =)
I love that my girls will accessorize with headbands, scarves, capes (every princess needs a cape lol) and such. When they were little it was all about the bling…little things securely attached to shirts or headbands.
