Panasonic jetforce vacuum review

*I was sent a Panasonic vacuum in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.

Panasonic pet hair vacuum

Having two pugs means having to vacuum more often. I remember having pets growing up that shed a LOT – if they were to lay down in an area and then get up, they’d leave a pile of hair behind. My pugs don’t shed like that, but I’m still surprised at how quickly their hair builds up in various places of my home. I only have carpet in one room, but the carpet is dark blue. My pugs are fawn colored so most of their fur is a sandy or light tan shade that is highly visible against the dark blue carpet. Their hair gets embedded between fibers on the carpet, my other vacuum would remove hair from the top layer of my carpet but wouldn’t grab the hairs that fell between carpet fibers. I would go over each part of the carpet 3-4 times each and when I got down on my hands and knees, I could still count several hairs that were stuck in the carpet. So when offered the chance to review the Panasonic JetForce Bagless Vacuum (model number MC-UL429) that was made to tackle pet hair, I enthusiastically said yes.

The vacuum is listed for $134.99, cheaper than the vacuum I was using before so I was eager to see if an affordable vacuum could really tackle the hair. When I assembled the vacuum, I found most aspects of it to be fairly self-explanatory and I only needed to reference the instructions once or twice. The vacuum comes with three accessories, a fan/blind brush (with bristles), a crevice tool and the pet glide. Each of these are attached to the hose with the same connecting piece which they call a wand.

The wand has adjustable lengths so regardless of which accessory you are trying to use, you can adjust the wand length based on your current need. The crevice tool is also adjustable in length so the two together create quite a long piece. The fan/blind brush gets attached onto the end of the crevice tool so it can be used with the really long piece, to easily access the top of ceiling fans or blinds that are high up. I have found that when using the hose I often accidentally tip over the vacuum as it seems to unbalance it a little.

The crevice tool is great for baseboards and around furniture legs. I have used it a little more than I did on my old vacuum because the front of the MC-UL429 is kind of boxy so it doesn’t get up against the baseboards as tightly. With dogs, the hair collects around my baseboards anyway so I was used to having to use the hose to get in those areas already, I just have to cover a larger area with it now.

The pet attachment tool is pretty neat. It seems to “agitate” the surface that it is used across. I have been using it under my couch cushions and on the dog beds and it works really well in those areas. The dog beds get hair built up in the creases of the bed and it gets in there to remove the hair nicely.

panasonic vacuum accessories

The accessories all snap into place on the vacuum for storage. Although my bedroom is the only room that has carpet, I don’t store the vacuum in my bedroom because I don’t have a closet. Each time I vacuum, I wheel the vacuum across my home and all of the accessories stay in place during movement.

panasonic vacuum retractable cord

The hose is retractable and has a low-set traction button so you can wind the cord back up using your foot on the button. The vacuum is bagless, so the dust/dirt that you vacuum up just ends up in the plastic canister. To empty it, you push a gray button above the canister to remove it from the rest of the vacuum. Then the bottom of the canister has a lid that flaps open to let the dust/dirt fall out. There is a pre-filter inside of the canister that can also be removed to empty any “extras” that get caught up in the top. I really like the pre-filter being removable because my old vacuums was not and stuff would get in there that I couldn’t get out. Others may complain that you have to touch the pre-filter to deep clean the canister but I don’t mind as I just wash my hands afterwards. It’s a small “price to pay” in order to fully clean out the vacuum, in my opinion.

There are two filters. One is towards the top of the canister. It should be cleaned with water once a month (and left to air dry before putting it back in). There is another towards the base of the vacuum, which is the HEPA filter. It is rectangular and you should check every so often to see if it appears dirty/full.

The vacuum works really well for my needs overall, but my favorite feature is how well is picks up my dogs hair. I’ve only had to go over areas 2-3 times instead of 3-4, and when I get down and search for hairs I don’t usually find any. It does a great job of pulling hairs from between the carpet and it gives my dark blue carpet a much fresher look than my old vacuum did.

Do you have pets? How does your vacuum handle their hair?
