*I was provided with a Chuggington DVD & Train Set in exchange for this post. All opinions are my own.
My nephew Drew is 3.5 and recently made a friend who is train-obsessed. This has sparked his interested in trains, train toys and train movies and TV shows. Chuggington is a train character TV show aimed at preschoolers that Drew recently took an interest in. Koko is a green train on the Chuggington show, and Explorer Koko is a chuggington DVD that focuses on the character Koko. It’s $9.99 on Amazon and has a 64 minute playtime. Drew is still fairly new to the show so this DVD was a fun way for him to learn a bit more about some of the characters other than Chuggington (which was the only character he knew by name before watching this DVD).
The Chuggington StackTrack Koko’s Safari Adventure Set is the perfect toy to pair up with the Adventure Koko DVD because it includes Koko as the train. The box showed us three ways to assemble the track but Drew came up with several other configurations as well (though they don’t necessarily use all of the pieces, he doesn’t mind). I wasn’t familiar with Chuggington train sets before, but I was pretty impressed by this one. This set has enough pieces that Drew feels like he can explore making new layouts and designs with the track. Yet, each track piece is large enough that the connection points for the pieces are easy to see. Drew can easily tell which piece will connect to which other piece and can snap them into place without a problem. Drew really likes the two pieces that create a swinging gate as well as the crossing gate. When we place the crossing gate towards the top of one of the ‘hills’ in the track, it really functions in holding Koko in place until the lever is raised which lets her move forward.
Drew has been over several times since we got the train set and it’s still the first toy that he asks to play with when he gets here. It’s available at Toys R Us for $24.99.
Do you have a Chuggington fan at home? What is your little ones favorite character from the show?
