Is your hair dry? Dull? Lacking in volume? Difficult to style? Prone to breaking or impossibly full of frizz? Here are 3 incredible products that can help you. All 3 products are from Live Clean, a brand that prides itself on creating amazing skin and hair products that are both eco-friendly and highly effective. They understand that even though people know that going green is better, we don’t want to compromise and settle with products that don’t perform as well as other ‘non-green’ products. Believe me, with Live Clean, there is no need to compromise!

Washing and styling hair can be damaging for hair and cause moisture loss, leaving hair dry and dull. In the Summer, the sun and wind can also damage hair. It is important to help restore this moisture and one of the best ways to do this is with an oil treatment. Live Clean oil treatments are 99% plant derived and contain no silicone, no mineral oil, no paraben nor petroleum, making them the safest and greenest alternative out there.

First, let’s talk about the Monoi Oil Treatment. This oil uses Tahitian gardenias which is naturally moisturizing. It works well to protect hair against protein loss. This treatment also contains certified organic jojoba oil and bamboo extracts. They help increase elasticity and strength while helping hair to retain moisture . This is a leave-in treatment so all you have to do is apply a small amount to damp hair and distribute evenly. On the Live Clean website, they say you can also apply it to dry hair but make sure to use very very little otherwise you might end up with greasy hair. I personally find it’s more difficult to apply the oil evenly to dry hair. Whether your hair was damp or dry, no need to rinse out, you can just style your hair as usual.

The second oil treatment I recommend is the Keratin Oil Treatment. This is a smoothing treatment created specifically to defrizz and seal oil in the hair. It uses phyto-keratin (a botanical derived keratin) and buriti oil (extracted from the fruit of the moriche palm) to smooth hair. It also contains macadamia nut oil and wild flower honey to retain moisture in the hair. This is also a leave-in treatment to apply to damp hair (or dry hair in a very small amount) before your style your hair.

The last oil treatment is the Miracle Nutrition Oil from their Age Resist Collection (see picture below). I reviewed it a few months back (click here for the review) and it is still one of my favorite hair care products. Unlike the previous 2 oil treatments, this is a pre-shampoo treatment.You apply it to damp hair, leave it for 5-10 minutes, then shampoo and rinse as usual. It uses jojoba and avocado oils with rosehip extract to tame unruly hair. It leaves hair smooth, shiny, fuller, and thicker. It also makes hair easier to style.

What I noticed from using these oil treatments is that my hair is noticeably shinier and stronger. I have been using them for a month and my hair is smoother from root to tip although my hair is typically prone to slip ends. I also find it has more volume than usual even though I haven’t change how I style my hair which is a great bonus for someone like me who has thin limp hair! Oh and the monoi oil and the macadamia nut oil smell so wonderful I have to remind myself not to pour the whole bottle on my hair! Of course, knowing that the smell comes from natural ingredients and that there are no harmful chemicals in any of them is the icing of the cake. Seriously, I think everyone should try them and see for themselves how exceptionally effective they are.

Since I’ve been using them for a few weeks, I feel I should share some tips to get the best results when using oil treatments:

1. How much should I use? LESS IS MORE!  Seriously, you only need to apply 1-2 drops of oil. If you add more, you may end up with greasy hair… I made that mistake once and believe me, you don’t want to go there. Luckily, Live Clean oils are water soluble, rinsing out easily and completely without leaving any build up in your hair. If you have fine hair like me, be even more careful. On the upside, a 100ml bottle will last a very very long time!
2. How do I apply it? The best way to apply the oil evenly in your hair is to add a drop or 2 in the palm on your hand, rub your hands together, then lightly comb your fingers through your hair, starting in the mid-section, going all the way to the tips of your hair. It is best to avoid the scalp area since it typically has more natural oils in it already and adding more may cause you to have greasy hair. Focus on the damaged and frizzy areas instead.
3. How often can I use them? They can be used every time you wash your hair. No need to worry about residue or buildup like hair products with silicone may cause.
4. That sounds great! Can I use these oils for anything else? Absolutely!

• You can apply a few drops to dry hair before swimming to protect it from the harsh effects of chlorinated water.
• You can apply a few drops to your hair prior to coloring to protect and nourish.
• You can apply hair oil overnight for a deep, nourishing treatment. You might want to place a towel over your pillowcase or wear a shower cap.
