*The Original Muck Boot Company provided me with a pair of muck boots for review. All opinions are my own.
Here in Michigan we get a fair amount of snow in the winter so boots are necessary. I am too lazy to lace up traditional snow boots multiple times a day when I check the mail or go outside with my dogs. So, this year I decided to try to seek out some pull-on winter boots for women. I came across The Original Muck Boot Company and was surprised to learn that they have a section of winter weather boots! I was eager to give them a try.
I was sent the Hale boot in black-jade. They are pretty high boots, ending a couple of inches below my knee. The majority of the boot is neoprene which is a waterproof material that is quite flexible. I have large lower legs/calves so I sometimes have a hard time getting fall boots to fit. So, I wasn’t too surprised that these fit me snugly. The neoprene has quite a bit of flexibility to it so I can stuff my pant leg into the boot even though it fits snugly. The sides hug my leg to help keep snow out. Alternatively, I could easily pull most of my jeans (assuming they aren’t skinny jeans) over the outside of the boot to hide most of the boot from view.
I do find that the sides being so tall and a bit tight on me make them a bit more difficult to put on than I had anticipated. I can’t really just slip them on like I could a pair of slippers, they take a bit of pulling and tugging but they are still much easier to use than traditional lace up boots.
The bottom sides of the boots have thick traction that continues up the toe and heel a little bit making them ideal for walking through mud or snow without losing your footing.
I’ve worn these on days as warm as into the 50’s without my feet overheating. Yet, they claim to be comfort rated down to sub-freezing temperatures (and up to 65 degrees). I have only worn them in temps down to about 25 degrees so far but they kept my feet nice and warm.
The Original Muck Boot company also offers boots for kids and men for various seasons.
