I’ve been cloth diapering for over a year and have tried out many different brands. While we have loved some, liked others, and flat out disliked others, there are a couple that get run through rotation more than the rest. Out of those, two diapers that are guaranteed to be in the diaper pail at the end of the day are my Bum Genius 4.0 diapers. I already had the Audrey 4.0 and loved loved loved it! So when Cotton Babies asked me to do a review for Bum Genius 4.0, I jumped at the chance to share this brand with you.
Bum Genius actually has four different diaper styles available. They offer the Freetime, 4.0 One Size, Elemental, and Newborn. Since the first Bum Genius I owned was a 4.0, I stuck with that style for this review. However, I’ve heard some really great things about each of the styles available but my experience has only been with the 4.0 One Size.
I received the Bum Genius 4.0 Snap Style in Mirror. The 4.0 One Size is a pocket style diaper that comes with both a newborn insert and a one-size insert. I always use both for “double” protection and to prevent leaks since the infant insert doubles as an overnight booster. The 4.0 is designed to fit babies from 8 pounds all the way up to toddlers weighing about 35 pounds. I’ve been using the Audrey on our daughter since she was a newborn and about 7 pounds. I was able to get a secure fit right from the start. Now at 4 months old, she’s about 16 pounds and I have adjusted the snaps accordingly to retain that nice snug fit.

I have found our Bum Genius 4.0 diapers to be quite slim as well as soft and flexible. Once dressed, you can’t even tell by looking at our daughter that she is in cloth with her Bum Genius diapers. I really like the style, quality, and performance that we’ve experienced with this brand and would definitely recommend them to anyone.
