I have two pugs who are about a year apart in age. I got them from their previous owner who had them for eight years. It’s frustrating when one has an issue and the other doesn’t because it seems like every aspect of their daily lives are identical. They eat the same food, treats, and I use the same products on them. A big difference between my dogs is their digestive systems. Despite having the same diet, Beans struggles with irregularity and upset stomach much more often than Frank does. Plus, at least a few times a month she will try to eat grass which suggests to me that her tummy isn’t feeling very great. She also has a lot more audible noises like gurgling or growling noises come from her belly even on days when she’s acting fine. We have discussed this with the vet before who basically said she just seems to have a sensitive digestive system.
I know that many people who struggle with digestive issues benefit from being on a probiotic, so I was excited to see that Bayer® ExpertCareTM has chewable probiotic Supplements for dogs that can be purchased at Petsmart. Bayer ExpertCare is a line of products formulated specifically formulated for dogs and cats that treat common health issues like dry eyes, small wounds, dry skin, etc. While at PetSmart a couple of months ago I picked up the Bayer ExpertCare chewable probiotic supplements to try with Beans.
The supplements are round treats that are dark brown in color. I don’t notice much scent to them but Beans gets excited for them as if they were a treat which makes it easy to get her to take them. I give her one in place of a treat each morning after we come back inside.
It seems to me that Beans is having less bowl irregularity and I haven’t heard her belly grumbling as much. They have not been a cure-all, she has still had off days where we take a lot of trips outside but it seems less often. She also seems to be craving food much more often. She’s almost always been eager to eat at meal times, but she now asks for food between meals (stereotypical pug!) which she never did before. This makes me wonder if in the past her stomach felt off and that was suppressing her appetite some.
Overall I’m happy that we gave the Bayer Expert Care Probiotic a try to would recommend them to anyone who has a dog with irregularity ora sensitive digestive system. See the full health and wellness line specifically formulated for dogs at PetSmart.

I take a probiotic for my gut issues so giving them to animals for the same totally makes sense!! What a great product!! I bet they have specific bacteria that doggies need!! Great option to have for tummy troubles!

Going to show my sister these. Her dog has had some problems since they’ve moved. I’m wondering if these would help. Good review.

It would be great if you could get Bayer to sponsor a giveaway for you. My senior Boston Terrier has the same digestive issues. It is sad to see him not feel well. He does not eat every meal which worries me because he is far from being overweight. I’ll have to look for Bayer Probiotics for him.

I know my mother’s dog could use these. That dog has the smelliest wind.

I don’t remember our dog having digestive problems when I was growing up. Good to know about this.

I might have to give these a try. Odin is a rescue and he has had stomach issues since day 1. I have had him to the vet, there is nothing they can much do. I have been told he could have part of a human Tums to calm his stomach. I have to ask the vet about the probiotocs.

I have had aging dogs and this is a great idea and product for them . It is very good for them and soft to chew.

These would have been so great for my Yorkie, who would have appreciated the soft chews since he had dental issues. So glad to see all these healthy options for our pets. People spend a ton of money on their own unhealthy snacks and could really spare some of that for healthier pet product options.

I would like to try these for my bischon. He is 13 now but is very picky on what he eats. If he eats them it would be great!!

I like the way this product aids in digestion for the pets. Also being soft and chewy makes it even better.

My cat is going on 13 years old & she has a very healthy appetite but she always throws a little back up, like every day. The vet said not to worry unless she was losing weight but i do worry! I think I’m going to try these out and see if maybe this will help. Worth a shot for me so thank you for sharing this product! Fingers crossed that it helps 🙂

This is great to know about…..I wasn’t aware that Bayer made products for dogs.

Wow, I sure wish this was availble when I had my sweet old Golden Retriever, Bonnie. She had a lot of digestive issues, due to her age. Everyone in our family takes probiotics – it stands to reason our fur babies should, too. And Bayer is a trusted brand in our homes, has been as long as I can remember.

I’ve noticed that as my dogs get older, they have more tummy issues. My oldest is Suki, who just turned 15. The other three – Kenji, Kyoko, and Seiji – are in the 5-7 year old range, so are just short of being seniors or just becoming seniors. I’ll have to try this for my dogs.

I haven’t heard about these, but our little one is getting older and has been having some stomach problems. Like us they need some help too. I want to get some of these and try them, I’m sure they might help some. He is in good health, just has some stomach problems . Thanks for the suggestion.

I think it is wonderful that they have Bayer Expert Care Probiotic for dogs. We should try to help our pets as much as we can if they have stomach issues like we do.

I’ve been using these on our Cavalier with a sensitive stomach for about a year. They firm up his stools; thank goodness. Appreciate your review.

Thank you for the review. I think my dog also would benefit from this product. She also has some of the digestion problems similar to your dog
