Stanley fatmax tool box 23

RS-online.com sent me a Stanley tool box for review. All opinions are my own.

Ryan and I have been dating over 9 years now. We were quite young when we first got together, so we’ve experienced becoming “true” adults together. Part of that process has been accumulating household items together. For our first apartment my mom and my aunts donated odds and ends of pots, pans and dishes to us which was a huge help. We were also gifted a few household items here and there, and of course we started buying the items we needed on our own, too. We were in our first apartment together when Ryan started gathering enough tools that we had to organize them somehow. He had a tool belt and a small container for some of them. Over the years he’s gathered a few new tool cases to hold additional tools. It recently occurred to me that he was storing tools in four or five different cases and it was just not a very organized system overall. I realized it was past-time that he got a real toolbox.

I partnered with RS-Online.com to review a Stanley FatMax tool box. The site is based out of the UK so measurements are listed in CM and prices are listed in Euros. However, they ship to the US and many of the products they sell include brands that are common here in the US – including Stanley!

The toolbox is roughly 23 inches wide, 11.5 inches high and 11.5 inches deep. It’s really sturdy and ha two metal clips in front that keep the lid on tight. I had a bit of trouble figuring out the latches myself, but Ryan didn’t. Inside the box is essentially just a box, with two special features. One end of the tool box has a tray that has slots to hold long, slim tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches and so on. However, that tray can be completely removed if you prefer to utilize the space for something else. The other feature is a removable tray near the top of the box. It gets left near the top of the toolbox so it’s best for long, thin items such as hammers, or really small items like screws, nails, nuts or bolts.

Empty, the box weighs just under 8 pounds. Once full the box will be heavier, but will vary depending on what you include. I am only 5’1″ and I am able to lug ours around right now without too much struggle, so even full of heavier tools most men would find the toolbox quite portable still, I think. We’ve enjoyed having this toolbox because it can hold all of Ryan’s smaller tools, plus some of his smaller power tools even. It contains everything except for his really big items such as his saw, drill, etc which stay out in our garage anyway. This tool box contains everything that we ordinarily keep in the house so it has been great for keeping his items in a single spot and organized.
