I was sent Matador Beef jerky for review. All opinions are my own.
As my dad gets older I find that it’s getting harder to find gifts for him. He’s still active for his age (70’s) but he lives a fairly simple life. There isn’t much in the way of entertainment or hobbies that he could really use. He really appreciates good food, so I find myself turning to food more frequently for his gifts. One of my dad’s favorite foods is beef jerky. This year I turned to Beef Jerky for his father’s day gift.
Matador Beef Jerky
Matador Beef Jerky is through the brand Jack Links which I’ve known and loved for years. I had not heard of or tried Matador before so I was excited to give it a shot. I’ve since noticed that it is available in my regular grocery store (Meijer) making it easy to pick up as a last-minute gift!
Matador Beef Jerky is available in four varieties. Original, peppered, teriyaki and sweet and hot. The original has a nice, smoky flavor. I’ve noticed that even among ‘original’ variations of beef jerky, some brands skew sweet while others skew more savory. This brand is on the savory side for sure, which is my personal preference for jerky. I don’t often buy teriyaki jerky because I don’t like the sweeter forms of jerky and teriyaki is often more sweet, but it also had that smoky undertones that kept it from being too sweet for my preferences. Peppered is often my favorite variety of jerky, and I found that to be the case for the Matador brand. The jerky is nice and peppered without being so hot that you need to snack on it with a full glass of ice water. The texture is nice and tender, and it doesn’t have that wet or greasy feel like some brands of jerky.
For gift giving, you could wrap a ribbon around a few bags with a tag or a card. Or, throw some bags into a gift basket of other snacks.
Win it: Four bags of Matador beef jerky (one in each flavor – Original, Peppered, Sweet & Hot, and Teriyaki.

I love all the Matador Jerky- all the flavors are great. We can never keep jerky in my house for more than a couple of hours – everyone just tears thru it.
